The 'Super Elite' Bundle includes the 250GB hard drive, two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, as well as an Xbox 360 Headset and a Standard Edition copy of Forza Motorsport 3 for £249.99. Basically the same contents as the Modern Warfare pack, then.

With a release date of October 23 though, the Forza pack will be the first chance consumers will have to get hold of the 250GB Xbox 360 (the Modern Warfare box arrives later on November 10 - no price details for that yet, though).
If you're keen to get behind the wheel before the game arrives into the shops, get in line for the Xbox Live demo which is planned for deployment on September 24.
Perhaps it has to do with the dubious tendency of various companies to magically convert the dollar sign to a euro or pound sterling sign yet barely make changes, if any, to the numerical value.
That's a bloody good deal actually considering the size of the HHD, an extra wireless controller and a copy of Forza 3.
And yeah, I'd like to see them sell the HDDs at a bit more reasonable of a price - clearly they can't be THAT expensive when that bundle is only £250. Post-Christmas, hopefully.

I see where you're coming from KFD, but I think a 33% increase in the USA and a 75% increase here would be rather out of sorts. Seeing as how MS love to charge for HDD space, I could've seen £300 but they have to price their console more competitively these days I suppose!
Why spend £249.99 when you can buy a 360 for £100 cheaper?
It's the same price as the PS3 which offers a much better deal for your money.
Surely people would rather have a built in blu-ray drive and free (wifi and subs) online for that price, rather than more HD space of which will probably never be used by your average joe?
I can see at this rate that when the next generation of consoles come around, they'll have to release with at least a 1TB HDD - especially as downloads are becoming more and more frequent.

Time will tell, I suppose.
OK. Did you read the article? 250gb HDD, extra controller and a £40 or whatever game. For £50 over the price of an Elite.
Not everybody loves all things Sony as much as you do Mark.
It doesn't interest me who is already happy with his 120gb hd 360, but it's certainly good value for money. It's obvious what this model is going up against, it's even the same price.
If only they offered it at say a tenner cheaper than the slimline ps3, just to wind sony up further
...excellent deal this, they just need to start selling the hard drives now at more realistic price. A 120gb ps3 with 1 pad or 250gb 360 with Forza3, 2 pads and a headset for the same money....i know what i would buy if i was after a games machine....
This is actually a great deal. It will be interesting to see how Sony combat it. At the end of the day, the real winners in these 'price wars' are us as consumers.
yeh i was curious as to why people were throwing around £350 as their guess! mind you it was prob the Sony fanboys stiring up "fun"
Sony fanboys stiring things up! Surely not. I thought they were all a bunch of sensible, lighthearted, happy people. No wait, that's the Wii crowd. Well I suppose when you play with Wii graphics you've gotta have a sense of humour.

The MW2 console was a limited edition, which is why I reckon they'd price it at £350. The Forza bundle will most likely be the regular black Elite.
Just how many different variations of the same product are Sony and Microsoft going to release this gen? If i wanted a 360 or PS3 i would defo hold off and wait until the whole motion control scheme was bundled with it like it almost certainly will be next year. I mean you've waited this long to buy a/another curent gen console whats another 6 months when we will see how the motion control has come along.

That's a good point dude. But I still don't see an extra £100 for a slightly different decal!
A pretty good deal if you ask me. I myself was intending to wait until the release of Alan Wake (whenever that might be :S) before I invested in a 360 but this deal seems too good to resist. While I do agree with Mark about the Playstation 3 representing overall better value for money because of the wifi out of the box and free online, the extra storage and controller this 360 bundle offers, not to mention the inclusion of a £40 game (as someone else pointed out) is enough for me to take the plunge

I read somewhere a while ago that this may be the strategy for this generation. Saves money on having to just jump into a new hardware cycle and let's them prolong this gen..

Not that crazy about Forza... Wonder if they'll release a Mass Effect 2 pack in January (a month after Christmas and my birthday...) = Guaranteed outlay of £250 for me and would stave off potential PS3 purchase...
Possibly not as it's no longer owned by MS and its not as much of a system swinger as COD...
I guess if it were up to Activision the MW2 bundle would cost in excess of a million so I recon 250 aint too bad. Still way over the top for a 250gb drive now, considering you can get Sata 2 1tb drives these days for below 60 quid.

360 bundle £250.
PS3 slim + extra pad + new game + headset=£350
personally i'd rather have the ODST bundle, just becasue i like halo more than Forza. still. a good deal is a good deal.

Saying that, Argos sell the PS3 Slim for £244.99 plus Cod 5. Not a bad deal.
And I can't see a 'Super Elite' rattling out of stores like the PS3 Slim did. Maybe an aesthetically different 360 would.
They can call it as super duper doo as they like but if it still has the RROD then it's not really a vast improvement in my eyes.
I have had three individual 360's blow on me (I wasn't born a PS3 crusader, duh!) and I think any nuance of super duperness will quickly evaporate when you're stood there on a Sunday afternoon staring at the red ring...

I thought this was a family site your 360 blows you and gives you a red ring?. Im gonna demand more from my ps3 it wont even give me a second look
I'm gonna wait for the 'ice cream in the middle and a cherry on top' model before i even consodering trading in my Halo model.
@ps3_f***yboy, you might not get RROD with the PS3 but there is that rather ominous yellow light to worry about.
the jasper chips have sorted out most cases of RROD and so far i haven't heard any horror stories about the the PS£ slim. so hopefully all this failure rate craps behind us.

Apparently there are lots of cases where update 3.0 has stopped the blu ray player working altogether.

Haha. That won't shut the Sony t**ts up... RROD has been sorted for ages now and they still won't shut up about it, even after the whole yellow light of death thing sprung up...
As for all these "well I've had a PS3 for a year with no ill-effects and I got through 42 Xboxes before that" idiots - I've had a 360 since early 2007 and I've had the common sense to place it in a suitable spacious, cool, well-aired area and have resisted the urge to stick it in a cupboard or sandwich it between a telly and a pile of empty beer cans/ashtrays/dirty laundry. Funnily enough mine works fine.
I broke my mobile because I carried it around in my back pocket and tripped and fell on it once. Didn't blame that on a poorly designed phone.
Sounds like a bloody good deal to me, so might just have to invest in one of these as my paltry 20GB drive is starting to get on my nerves what with having to delete stuff on a regular basis just to play a demo.
Bloody good deal. But haven't all the 360 fanboys who really want a 360 already own one? This is what you gotta love (hate!) about the 360 fanboys. First they lap up the arcade (Cheap as chips £150), then 6 months later they lap up 360 with Hard Drive (Cheap as chips £179), then 6 months later they lap up 360 with HDMI elite version (Cheap as chips £229), then 6 months later they lap up 360 with Halo green casing+hdmi+hd (cheap as chips only £250). Lol, next the 360 fanboys will be lapping up (maybe in 6 months down the line) a 360 with built in wi-fi and bluray, a free network and option to install your own hard drive. 360 owners must be the most gullible and spendthrift of all gamers in the last 20 years. Rofl! Even ninty with the super successful wii hasn't brought out any model v1, v2, v3, etc! Respect to wii owners and ninty.
Sigh, I'm still seeing this as panic on Microsofts front. Let's be honest, they wouldn't have done this if the slim hadn't been released. Anyway, I saw a slim in toys r us the other day for £220 and COD4 for £30. Let's face it, unless you have a 40 inch tv, you don't need to play split screen multiplayer, especially if you're paying for online like 360 users have to. If you're paying for online, tell your friends to go the f**k home and play you on LIVE, get your moneys worth!
And whats this i hear about the yellow light of death? I've had a yellow light on my ps3 once or twice (it's a 60 GB model from launch) and all I did was turn it off and on again and it sorted itself. Big whoop, more like the yellow light of annoyance. And people only mention the RROD to irritate you ms fanboys out there. We know you'll rise to it! That's half the fun!

Couldn't give a s**t about Blu-Ray or WiFi and have no objection to paying a nominal amount for a superb online service.
As I stated above, I personally bought the original Xbox 360 with a 20GB hard drive which I have now outgrown so this 250GB deal makes a hell of a lot of sense for me.
And having a range of systems to cater for a diverse range of consumers makes perfect business sense, it's all about choice.

Aye, it's almost as much fun as baiting hapless SDF fanboys with "the power of the Cell" and the lackluster BR adoption rates.

Watch Watchdog tonight...
I would, but I'm at work. Is it about the ps3? Lol, I've been waiting for that ever since I saw the 360 one. I've heard of this yellow light thing, but it's never been a big deal for me. Is this a recent occurence?

Apparently so. Probably not on the scale of the RROD, but Sony are being bottoms about repairing those that do fail.
I just looked this up, the guy talking about it has been employed by MS aswell. I think its all a load of s**t, I've had experience with sony's customer service before, they're excellent. My psp broke, they gave me a new one, no charge, no questions asked. My ps3 hasn't failed once, it's a great console. BBC needs to find a new route to take and look at the real problem, since on 250 people wrote to them about the issue, out of the 2.5 million ps3 owners in the uk. and one of the consoles they're using as an example was home repaired by its user, so of course sony won't help him!

Maybe you should try doing a bit more digging because I've just done a quick search and found a lot of p**sed off PS3 owners on various forums who seem to be in agreement that the problem is caused by faulty hard drives, and if they haven't got the original receipt or it's over 12 months old then Sony want 150 quid to sort the problem out...pass the buck attitude at best. Should be interesting to see what they've got to say for themselves later!

a work friend had his ps3 break after about a year but it went in for repair with a disc in as he couldnt get it out, took weeks to get it returned. in fact i think he got a replacement machine before his disk.

I got the yellow light and was only waiting a week for it to be fixed.
Got 3 RRODs the quickest return I got was 6 weeks later. The earliest reply I heard of was 3 weeks and that was in my job.
Wii owners are really lucky. Have mine since launch. Nintendo seem to make quality products. My snes is still working. Classic Gameboy still working. But never mind the casual gamers nonsense ha

Except that there are Xbox 360 owners like myself, whom are not interested in online functionality (my PC does that just fine, thanks) so that means no wifi adapter nor online subscription. As for BR, I'm not particularly interested. Until BRs end up costing the same as DVDs do, I'm in no rush to jump on the bandwagon. In other words, if your primary objective is to play *games* in one form or another, then this is a heck of a deal.
That being said, I do think that the slim PS3 offers good value at present.
P.S. You conveniently forgot to add that you get two gamepads with this MS bundle.
I got the RROD last week and it took six days for it to return from MS.
Hmmmm, either you got the RROD when the vast majority of people did, or you're full of it.
Yeah it was because of all the hastle it really turned me off the console. I'm still sick to death of microsoft and the customers coming into me everyday in my job with their 360s. I'm sick to death of hearing that helpline and trying aimlessly to speak clear enough for the machine to understand me.
I've been working in Gamestop the last 2 years and there hasn't been a day gone by that I havent had a disgruntled customer with their 360. You cant have it standing up because it scrapes the discs to bits. You cant have it in tight spaces because it overheats. Actually had a customer whos power brick went on fire haha
I don't even recommend the console anymore but to keep my job I'm not gonna go "ooh i shall be seeing you soon" when somebody is buying the console because it m$ pays my living.
Thankfully I havent felt guilty the last few weeks for offering the slim ps3. Really hope Nintendo introduce something new aswell cant wait for New Super Mario Bros.

Bullsh*t. Got mine back in just over a week and that's not unusual. I believe you're lying about that - 3 RROD's and the quickest turnaround is 6 weeks? No chance.
Also - not that my PS3 has ever broken - but I thought they brought a new one to your door the next day. Although that will only be if it's still in warranty, which yours probably wasn't.
Regardless of if that fella is talking rubbish about the 6 week turn around time, there is no denying that there is a big red ring problem (as the posters who are defending the Xbox by saying "B******t, I got my 2nd and 3rd ones back after only 6 days!!! Ok I exaggerate )...
I really want an Xbox actually but thats the one thing that is stopping me...And I refuse to pay for an extended warranty on top of all the 'extras' (ignoring all the folks who say "I don't need Bluray" or "Wifi" such as Wifi (Wireless controllers?!) and online gaming because I actually like and need those things for me to get the best out of it....

Oh I enjoy the two wireless gamepads I have for my Xbox 360, but I'm not interested enough in going online with the Xbox 360 to pay extra for that function (I know there are silver accounts which you don't pay for and I could get around having a wireless connector by plugging directly in to my internet socket,) when my PC does it. Like you I held back from buying an Xbox 360 until the Jasper chipset was released. I keep my Xbox 360 well ventilated and it's been fine - it doesn't feel like it's overheating and while the DVD drive does make some noise, it soon fades away in the background once the game sound kicks in. Speaking of sound, it is better with a 5.1 surround sound home theater system (I recently converted and am loving it)!

Also - not that my PS3 has ever broken - but I thought they brought a new one to your door the next day. Although that will only be if it's still in warranty, which yours probably wasn't.
It's the God honest truth dude. As was posted earlier this was before microsoft admitted to the RROD. This was in 2006 when it happened.
Unless the people are crooks Ive had to send emails to Microsoft enquiring about faulty Xboxs in repair 4 weeks after they have been sent off.
@ ei8hty5ive yeah im the same like. love gears and natal looks interesting and lips is great craic (irish word for fun) ha
And the whole story with firmware 3.0 of all the blu ray players I only heard of happening twice. Once on this and second it happened to my neighbour after I updated mine so I was shibbing myself haha
Apparently there are lots of cases where update 3.0 has stopped the blu ray player working altogether.
Apparently lots of cases eh
There's a whole thread about it over at EG, and I've read about it on Hexus too. Worries me a bit because the whole reason I bought a Slim was for blu-ray, and I haven't yet tested it with one.

Going by something you said earlier, I take it you're based in the States, no? For us in the UK it's definitely a quicker process, in the one time I got the RROD it took 8 days.
@Blackmantis: No from the lovely emerald isle. But seriously yeah I'm in Ireland. The 6 week wait happened to mine in 2006 now. So I kinda used it as a bad example. But it still doesn't deter from the countless folk that come into Gamestop with problems with their Xbox. Some within the 28 day warrentee of the store so we have to give them a brand new one ourselves. How did it come to this actually?? I cant remember haha But yeah on another post I'm on Sonys side. Technically I am not for the games or its features just the reliability. It gives me much less pain in the job. But since its launch I have never had anyone in with problems with their Wii haha
