No more NASCAR games

EA lets the franchise go
If you thought driving round in circles was exciting then you'll be gutted to learn that EA plans no more official NASCAR games.

"There are no plans right now for NASCAR from EA," Peter Moore told Gamespot. "We had a great relationship over the years that I thoroughly enjoyed when I first got here. Unfortunately...we had to make some tough trade-offs. We've had to redeploy some of those folks.

"A number of the NASCAR team has moved over now to EA Sports MMA, which will be shipping next year. [We're] still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports."

Looks like it's up to the Need For Speed games to continue bringing home the racing bacon.

I must admit to not being too enthralled by the Dirt 2 demo - being as it just felt plain wrong.

I too hope that the Rally section of GT5 is more authentic.

Considering how enjoyable Polyphony Digital made racing round circles enjoyable (particulary the faster cars) in their previous entries to the GT series I cant wait to see how they handle the Nascar licence. I can't see them balls it up in he same way EA Sports did anyway.

EA made a NASCAR game!?

If GT5 has the Nascar licence, which it does, and if it continues to be in future GT games, there's absolutely no point for any more Nascar. I always thought it was a turd of a genre, and had no interest at all in it.

Bah! NASCAR was always rubbish. Let's see what GT5 can do.

Yes, It's a horrible sub-genre.

However, with EA driving the NASCAR license we could have seen another 3 or 4 annual iterations of NASCAR games before GT5 might possibly show up.
