With one bit of Microsoft speculation out of the way (that's the price cut) it was inevitable that a new Xbox rumour be born from the bowels of the internet.
Speculation's mounting that a new high-end Xbox 360 could reach the shops before Christmas, after the Xbox 360 Elite and Arcade packs were repositioned into a two-SKU setup (the Pro's been chopped).
Amazon Germany briefly listed - and then pulled (see picture proof here) - the new Xbox 360 model with a 250GB HDD, two wireless controllers and Forza Motorsport 3.

The same retailer managed to slip word on the PS3 Slim early (along with everyone else) so this is probably true. We've left word with Microsoft to get our no comment. Though to be fair we've had a few comments off them today already.
I suppose with games on demand coming on live along with a lot of other stuff, thats the reason for the new harddrive.O and also probaly to overtake sonys 180gb drive.
Yea I have a 120GB hard drive and filled it up by installing a lot of games (quicker load times and silent console) and a lot of great XBLA games. 250GB sold sperately would interest me.
I could maybe see this happening. Then the current Elite could be filling the position of the old Pro and this would be the new 'Elite'. If it happened I would expect Sony to follow suit, although if I remember there was a rumour of a 250gb Slim almost immediately after the launch of the current Slim.

I've had a 250GB HDD in my PS3 for ages now, in fact thinking of getting a bigger one soon, MS really shouldn't have used proprietary HDD's because no matter how big a drive they release you can get a bigger one for your PS3 and probably at less than half the price.
Yeah you guys point out Sony for doing the right thing with HDD's but my friends and I are console gamers first and foremost, we're technologically retarded. Watching the video on how to change the PS3 HDD just put us all off so nobody I know has. I don't know an X360 owner who hasn't upgraded to 120Gb HDD. I'm happy paying much more for simplicity and easy gaming. I buy a new gaming PC every two years because i'm scared of opening them up to upgrade. You can laugh at that but there are many once casual gamers like myself who consider themselves hardcore but still want everything nice and easy and will pay through the nose for it.
Perhaps this explains the talk of MS changing the Elite SKUs to white... TBH I'm a hardcore gamer and 360 fan...but even I can't think what I'd fill 250Gb with.

what? the only hard part is deciding what size you want, as long as you have: long nails (or small flat head screwdriver), a Philips head screwdriver, everything is very straight forward even for the most tech challenged of person.

Agreed, MSoft charge way too much for their drves changing the PS3 drive couldn't be simpler. Old one out new one in and the PS3 will guide you through the rest. Just remember to back up saves etc from old drive first to USB storage.
