C&C4; shots and info

First proper info arrives via French mag
The first screens and details have emerged on Command & Conquer 4 via a French games mag, picked up by a C&C; fansite. Nothing is safe these days.

Here's what the fans have ripped from the mag (potential spoiler alert if it turns out to be bang on the money):

  • Kane contacts GDI after all hope is lost due to the Tiberium contamination, forming the "Tiberium network control", which allows to control Tiberium spread, as well as turn it into an inexpensive power source- but of course, the extremists of both parties don't agree with this shift, sparking a new war

  • FMVs won't consist of much asinine babbling in front of bluecsreens, there should be much more action ahead

  • Our character will play an important role in the story, but FMVs remain 1st person

  • Much more mature and stern tone

  • Crawler produces all our units, and is upgradeable as our standard units are

  • Lost crawlers are instantly replaced, and you can choose between offensive, defensive or engineer classes

  • Tiberium will be collected by refineries you erect yourself at pre-determined spots

  • All SP and MP matches will net you experience points to unlock new tech

  • Oil derricks as secondary income (Unconfirmed!)

It's serious stuff. Check out pics of the mag here.

What the hell? I hated Red Alert 3 for that (plus a lot more..)it was so much more fun when you've got like 5 refineries surrounding one field, easier to get money.

I'm expecting the RA3 look and feel now, just with a different storyline :(

Look back to the days of Tiberian Sun :)

This looks pretty cool. Pity i've not got a decent PC.
I'd never buy RTS for my 360 unless Keyboard and Mouse was implemented.
God knows why that option's never been explored before.

Aw, man, I hope this isn't all real. Crawlers to construct the base, sounds like Total Annilation. I hate that, I want to buy my structures and put them down, now have some construction unit running around doing it.

And I agree with the person above, I hated in RA3 that you could only build your resources gathering structures in fixed positions. Where's the fun of tryn to gather and transport the Tiberium back to the base!?!

The rest sounds great but these two points sound like they could spoil the brilliant franchise.

I bought Red Alert 3 and sold after 2 weeks because of fixed resources it is utter pants.

the first C&C game i bought was RA3 and i liked it. but this new one sounds a bit boring. i liked the cut scenes it made it fun. gemma atkinson grrrr.

Personally I loved RA3, found it a lot more fun than C&C3. Having said that, I don't like the sound of this much, the XP points sound weird.

I think it's safe to say EA don't "get" the C&C franchise. It's a shame considering C&C defined RTS gaming, doing it far better than anyone else. Now it's become a shadow of its former self. Tiberian Sun was the absolute peak. Well done for destroying Westwood Studios, EA. Bravo. (Warning: may contain sarcasm).

is there any franchise EA does get? :)

Anyway i wasnt a fan of the new resource gathering part of RA3 but i still enjoyed it alot with the obvious fact that jenny mcarthy sucked as Tanya.

I am looking forward to C&C4 with baited breath and although it still has the not so good resource gathering again im sure it will be killa.

RA3 & C&C3 sucked hard. Me and my flatmate love RTS games, we lasted about 20 minutes playing this rubbish. Thank god for Supreme Commander.
