I wouldn't pay the premium release price for it, but since I got in on an early pre-order discount price I'm not complaining. :) Not having a MP beta is just arrogance. They think that the first was good and they can make it 'flawless' from the start. Treyarch held a beta for W@W, and look at the glitch-ridden cheat fest that was on release. With no beta, this will be worse. Infinity Ward can't iron out all the bugs on their own. Well, considering that it's apparently the same engine that's being used, perhaps the multiplayer features of MW2 will heavily incorporate the features from the first MW. If that's the case they might not need the same extensive beta testing in light of the massive amounts of gaming hours that have been put in to MW's multiplayer. Either way we'll know more come Nov. 10th. Not really interested in the MP aspect of this game. I just hope that people using glitches and cheating on this game will be banned from day 1. useless lifeless tossers! its them loosers that killed my interest in the MP game. And moaning about no beta's is just pathetic because all you want is to play the game before its release... how sad. Agreed. Personally I've only half-played two or three opening rounds of MW's multiplayer. I loved the single player campaign and it's on the strength of that, that I'm buying MW2. I don't know about you lot, but personally, I'm buying for the Single-player experience mostly. Multiplayer includes co-op campaigns now. That's far more interesting and more fun than adversarial for me.
Then again, the timing of my purchase will be determined by how good Operation Flashpoint is. We've got two years before the MW3 so there's no rush. Not sure how I'll feel come release date! But with Op Flahspoint, Forza 3 and probably another game too I'm not sure I have enough time. I'm already addicted enough, with that lot available I'll be like a junkie with a permanent needle in my arm! Campaign and maybe some coop is all I want from this game a good 10-12 hours is all I ask. And perhaps trophys/achievments that don't involve MP so much. Ditto. I'm glad there's no beta, it means everyone will be at level 1 from release date, which is good. Everyone will discover hiding places at the same time, rather than a select few hiding in spots they learned from the beta. can't belive people don't care about multiplayer! COD4 single player was very good but very short - it it hadn't of been for the 15 days spent playing multiplayer I would have felt very short changed. Yes the glitchers etc. are annoying but they don't ruin the overall experience - testing your skills against other people is what gaming is all about - anyone can finish a game on veteran but playing against humans who have a brain of their own is the real test.
Im disappointed there is no beta - the COD WaW beta was great fun and added to the excitement of the release. MUlti player is awesome...you are trying to out smart real americans rather than computer generated enemies. Makes you think a lot more than in single player...does anybody think that there will be a Nazi-Zombie style game..??
Nice name Mctavish...is that from COD4? I will naturally give MP a try now and then (still do with cod 4 and 5 but I just wasn't grabbed by the nuts by it I guess too many people play it too much and suck the fun out of it for casual players. My brother just prestiged for the 10th time on WaW last week he for one will be giving it loads on the 360 version but im 50-50 about which I'll get ps3 or 360 both will have the same SP coop and mp experience.... oh and it must be 39.99  What?? the last modern warfares achievements didnt envolve multiplayer so much.. I cant understand why you all have a problem with multiplayer its the best aspect of the game for me, yes glitchers suck but the rest of the experiance more then makes up for those few saddos that like camping in walls is it taht you r not very good online :? Tastes differ. Multiplayer can be fun as a side-show but it completely lacks any in-depth, cohesive story line and is often plagued by the immature and moronic behaviour of various other human beings. True, you get to test and train your skills against (presumably,) thinking opponents, but then there are the cheaters which is an exercise in frustration just as bad, if not worse, than dealing with a bug riddled game, IMO. If you want to push the envelope sign up at a paintball club. If you really want to push the envelope even further enlist in the armed forces and volunteer to be sent to some of the various war zones around the globe...Be warned however, that it may come at a higher cost than imagined - physically and psychologically. Heh. I'm the exact opposite. For me it was the fantastic, frenetic action packed story of MW's single player mode that brought home the gold. I don't mind multi-player modes in principle, but I am turned off by games that are purely multi-player (Counter-Strike being a bit of an exception but even there years can go by between my gaming sessions). For me the story telling aspects of a game trump multi-player every time. It also has the added bonus that I don't need anyone else to participate in order to enjoy the game. Just checked InfinityWard forums out, and a Community Moderator has spoken to Rob, and confirmed that Activision did not say such a thing, nor has InfinityWard.
So, CVG i think you should remove this article, as it clearly is fake. It's not that I don't care about adversarial games but I find joypads too slow, and too inaccurate to really enjoy this game style. I'm an ex-mouse/keyboard gamer. I prefer co-op where the slowness of pad movement isn't so much a frustration. Plus co-op usually promotes better teamwork, and a more enjoyable friendly atmosphere.
I wouldn't suggest 'anyone can finish a game on veteran'... I know very few people that finished CoD4 on veteran. Maybe it will surprise you to find most people aren't at this level, whether it's through lack of patience, persistence or time they can devote to practice. http://direct.tesco.com/search/default.aspx?search=modern+warfare&confirm.x=0&confirm.y=0
