Although as i can only run Empire total war amoung its lowest graphic settings, looks like ill have to upgrade my PC before this comes out. That does sound intriguing. However, despite being able to max out all settings I still find graphical glitches during battle scenes. Perhaps an updated patch might fix it. Ah well.
I sent Creative Assembly an e-mail upon buying the game and finding to my dismay I couldn't play it until the next day because I fell asleep waiting for Steam servers to download and activate the game despite having bought the retail version. In the e-mail I thanked CA for all the good gaming memories and then proceeded to inform them that I will no longer purchase their products thanks to the omission of the online activation requirement during the run-up to the games release. For a game that still predominantly favours single player mode that's just not good enough in my book.
I'm not buying this and while I've been playing "Empire:Total War" again lately, it doesn't have quite the same magic as "Mediveal II: Total War", IMO. Maybe if CA someday make a WWII or contemporary warfare strategy game of the same ilk, I might consider buying it depending on their DRM methods. i wont be buying this unless it has the "promised" multiplayer campaign Not really that fussed over this. Bring back sword and shield, arrows and cavalry charges. Gunpowder was a fun experience at first, but it got very boring very quickly. The Naval combat was fun, but I'd prefer to see it used in a Roman period, ramming, flaming catapults, boarding and what-not.
I spent untold months on Rome and Medieval II, but Empire lasted barely half that time. Love the Total War games, but this feels like an expansion more than anything else, something that I'm not really fussed about. Besides, I'm only just finishing my first full campaign and want to go back and play through with a few more factions.
I reckon Creative Assembly are planning work on Total War: World at War or something now anyway and the potential for that is really exciting.
And while we talking graphics, does anyone else find the depth of field on the campaign map really annoying. Had to turn it off, although my system is more than capable of running it *wink* Love Rome and Medieval, but Empire didn't grab me. Was hoping for a Rome 2 announcement. I won't even start on the Steam download/activation thing. Never again. Personally find it rather distasteful to be touting the expansion when the game itself is still, 6 months after release, needing patching.
Before Empires I'd bought every expansion in the TW catalogue, save Alexander. After the Empires' fiasco I doubt I'll bother. Well I’m glad I'm not the only one who was dissatisfied with Empire, and the Steam activation was really annoying it took bloody ages!! I was so excited when Empire got released but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the others. It was really nice to look at but it got boring real quick, just shows graphics aren’t everything
I've spent more time on Rome then any other game (maybe with the exception of AOE2) and IMO I think that is the pinnacle of the Total War games. I was praying for either Rome 2 or something akin to Shogun. Looks like I'll (and the rest of us) will be waiting a long time. |
