Vote for Sega's next XBLA game

Which Megadrive game do you want next?
Long gone are the days when marketing men and women think they know what games are best for us. Sega has faith and has set up a poll allowing us to vote for its next Xbox Live Arcade game.

The poll features seven Megadrive games and all you have to do is vote for the one you want to be released on Xbox Live Arcade. For some strange reason there's no word of this happening on PlayStation Network.

"In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Sega Genesis, we're putting the power back in the fans' hands and letting you determine the next title we'll release on Xbox Live Arcade! Just pick from the Genesis classics below and cast your vote between August 14th and August 21st," says Sega.

Get moving. There's only a few days left...

Earthworm, Earthworm, Earthworm, Earthworm Jim, Hooray for Him!!!!!

Guess which one i picked.
Posted by svd_grasshopper
revenge of shinobi is the best game there.
Posted by heatuk10
it's got to be and it already has a 45% advantage! good times
Posted by Squall5005
Wiz n Liz! Online multi-player would be ace.

I guess I should've read the post properly. I didn't see the poll.

As I said on the forum post for this:

I know it wasn't on the Megadrive, but for the love of all that's holy - give us Sonic CD on XBLA!!
Posted by footieharry
yay earthworm Jim has 45% of votes!!!
Posted by Robjduk
how can you all want earthworm jim over Toejam and Earl??? Sure earthworm jim has evil cats and cows in it but seriously.... MULTIPLAYER TJ&E People!!!

http://genesispoll.com/ Link to poll website.
Posted by Robjduk
while we on the subject do you think we can vote for them to offer a widescreen mode for their games?
Posted by footieharry
i love earthworm jim with all those cows but i forgot about wonderboy and his cool skateboard.
Posted by flash501
It''s Revenge of Shinobi all the way for me. Man I loved that game when I was a youngster.
Posted by FiltyMonkey
Castle of Illusion with Mickey Mouse. Frickin' sweet.
Posted by ensabahnur
definetly, followed by both arcade and megadrive versions of Shadow Dancer or both versions of E:Swat.
mind you i though there were licensing issues with Revenge due to Spiderman appearing and a Batman pisstake that was changed to a Manbat for the UK

Where's the 'none of them' option on their website? :(

Personally i'd rather see an original sega game made for xbl and psn, not another ported over emulated game that we've had for years on the pc megadrive emulator.

Two Crude Dudes!

Is this a piss-take poll or what? Earthworm Jim, WTF??

Give me Streets of Rage or Shinobi any day!
Posted by davidc
why can't we have all of them...?
Posted by ensabahnur
ha ha haven't played that in years. hows about Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja
Posted by davidc
why can't we have all of them..??
Posted by flash501
Yeah, I heard something about that alright. It was a bit cheeky of them putting them in there as bad guys. How is it only in 3rd last in the poll btw?.
Posted by altitude2k
Or even Shinobi vs. Dragonninja...

"Got it all too hiiiigh..."

Jeez - I utterly loved that game in the arcade....must have blown so many 50p's on it.

Funnily, the only level I seem to remember was the one on the back of the truck.

It was a brilliant game in its' day though.

Anyways, where is Space Harrier?? - I'd take that over any of these, although Wonderboy (or Wonderboy in Monster Land) would be cool. Basketball Nightmare would be another I'd like to see, or Kenseiden (anyone remember that?)

:)
Posted by ensabahnur
»thats the only level i can remember as well. can't remember if it was the arcade or the C64 version of it i played though.
Posted by davidc
revenge of shinobi and arcade space harrier are on the wii shopping channel.....space harrier is great, looks abit blocky but moves smoothly.....would rather have revenge of shinobi in pin sharp vision than blurovision, so i hope that wins......steets of rage would be good as well.............

All of the choices are already on virtual console. Chances are they won't have much changed from the originals except achievements.
Posted by kimoak
Seconded. With the Japanese music too. I'd get a 360 just for that. :)
Posted by ParmaViolet
I've just found an upright Space Harrier cabinet for £1,500....hmmm - probably a bit too much.

This, however, is pretty cool and a bit more practical

C'mon Sega, isn't it about time you gave it the HD treatment?

:D

Sigh. Utterly pointless. These games have been running on emulators for years. An online co-op mode would certainly be worth it but I'd also want updated graphics considering how long it takes for these remakes to come out.

All these games should be available already. Sega are sitting on their fat hairy bottoms while allegedly waiting for 'the fans' to decide what they want. It should be a simple case of what amounts to pushing through a rush of quick ports. The Genesis, Amiga, ST, C64, Amstrad and ZX Spectrum used to get specific ports of coin-op's around the same time and in what amounts to how long we have to wait today.

ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THAT WITH ALL OF TODAY'S TOOLS, SOURCE CODE AND ALREADY MADE ASSETS THESE CONVERSIONS CAN'T BE MADE ANY FASTER?

WHO ARE YOU EMPLOYING - THE MUPPETS?

:x

Sega, you should be working on Saturn & DC ports already!

mmm slightly jealous ps3 owener... i'd go for streets of rage - one of my fav megadrive + 90s game.

street of rage 2 was quite simply tops.
Posted by ensabahnur
well they kinda already have with Virtual:On but your right, there's a hell of a lot of Saturn games i'd love to see on either PSN or XBLA like Deep Fear, Burning Rangers and Radiant Silvergun to name but a few
Posted by JuiKuen
I have Streets of Rage, Shinobi III and Toejam & Earl on my Wii. I haven't seen Two Crude Dudes on the VC. Unless you mean all choices on the Sega site. If not... (runs off to look)
Posted by LordVonPS3
The biggest problem with SoR (and 2) is how long it takes to bash your way through it... Even in 2p mode, I reckon SoR takes longer to finish than Double Dragon & Target Renegade combined! I'd prefer it if the levels were shorter - there's certainly enough of them.
Posted by ensabahnur
you should have tried bashing through them using a japanese megadrive which translated any english into japanese(it played UK games in japanese as well). when the last boss asks you the question its trial and error and you usually always picked the wrong answer and had to drop back down a few levels. i hated that jap megadrive with a passion(i loved it really, just buggered some of my games. ah the good old expensive days of grey imports)

People rave about the Japanese music for Sonic CD, but I much preferred the US music:

US intro:

Japanese intro:

Posted by LordVonPS3
It's the bottom of the 2 options in the game (the default is yes)... :)
Posted by ensabahnur
well when all you've seen it in is japanese and with no easy internet access in 1991 it was a case of trial and error. it nearly cause me to tear my hair out, especially when i'd forget what option i'd chosen before.
Posted by JuiKuen
NO Two Crude Dudes on the VC!

Sack off this lot! Bring us TCD Sega!

Shining Force baby!
