EA's released new Mass Effect 2 plot details after showing off the sequel at its Gamescom press briefing. Don't look if you don't want anything spoilt.
"Once again stepping into the role of the heroic Commander Shepard, gamers will command their crew on a suicide mission in space," says EA.

"Players will strategically select each member of their squad, all of whom have a direct impact on the direction of the story and the squad's chances for survival. Players will select from a motley cast of characters including the newly revealed 'Grunt' - a blood-hungry Krogan.
"Once players have assembled their squad from amongst the galaxy's most powerful mystics, geniuses, and convicts, they must lead them on a suicide mission to discover why humans are vanishing from the galaxy. The success of the mission hinges on the squad recruited and their loyalty to the mission. Shepard's future depends on it."
"The new character revealed in the Mass Effect 2 squad is 'Grunt'," EA's blurb continues. "A violent and unpredictable Krogan fighter, Grunt has never faced true defeat. His unsurpassed physical strength makes him a strong asset to Commander Shepard's team, if he can be tamed, and if he can be trusted."
More details about the rest of Shepard's ME2 crew will be revealed in the coming months, EA confirmed.
Why not just bring Rex into the fold again. I already spent 40 hours getting him to trust me. Love the Krogans, definately my favourite race in Mass Effect.
I like the Krogan story, the fact that it's another race you have contact with who has screwed them (see what I did there?) over. But I never really liked Wrex outside of having a meatshield on hand.
I like the idea of the nomadic lifestyle on a planetary scale with Tali. And of course the idea of a planet full of psychic bisexual women with piercing yellow eyes doesn't exactly scare me either :)
I don't know quite how the mechanics will work, with regards to bleeding the first game into the second, but Wrex potentially dies in the first game, unlike Garrus, Liara and Tali. It's kind of a shame as I liked him. The Krogan are an interesting race so I'm glad they've kept them in rather than pepper the new game with entirely new aliens. Can't wait for this!
