Bethesda: "Enough" Fallout 3 DLC released

Five download packs is "upper limit" says producer
Bethesda's Todd Howard has said that the five released Fallout 3 DLC packs is "enough content" for the post-apocalyptic RPG.

Speaking to Kotaku, the producer said that for him five downloadable episodes was always "the upper limit" of extra content for the game.

"I think we've put enough content out there for this game," he said. "We knew we wanted to do three initially and we'll see where that goes. I kind of had in my mind that the upper limit was five. Part of that was what I think people are willing to continue to pay for a game. And a lot of that is our own internal bandwidth."

Howard also said that Point Lookout, the fourth DLC pack, was his favourite. "We knew we were going to do a fourth DLC, I said to them, I think you guys should do this. Come up with some ideas and pitch us. And that's what they did. That was on the case that, on a bigger game, they wouldn't have gotten that opportunity."

Point Lookout was definately the best one for me as well, a bit of a let down with Mothership Zeta, not the best way to end the game.

I would happily pay for more, providing it was of the standard of PL and The Pitt.

Get working on The Elder Scrolls V! And make homebrew DLC packs workable on the consoles (or at least don't sign any exclusivity agreements on the official DLC).

It'll probably become available when the Game of The Year Edition comes out in October. I haven't bought Fallout yet, so I'm waiting for that version.

Brilliant game, but i've spent enough money on this game already.

I would much rather they get to work on a new Oblivion or something similar, let's be honest the missions were far more interesting and the game world imo, was far better in that game.

Speak for yourself. I think Fallout kicks the crap out of oblivion.

I quite liked mothership zeta but my favourite episode was definately the pit.

I bought it on released and loved it. Trouble is, I have not been able to go back to it for a while now. I still have a lot to go through. I am the sort that doesn't want to miss out on any content and to do that, I just need more free time to get really stuck into it. I'll get all the DLC when I have completed the main game... in about 2012 :)

same here, Oblivion with its elves, orc's and LOTR style enviroment just didn't do it for me. now a post-nuclear wasteland, that does peak my interest.

I do think 5 is enough, but I, like many others will have finished Fallout 3 having completed Mothership Zeta. I felt disappointed slighty as it was certainly one of the weaker DLC's; the final journey ending with a wimper, not a bang.
But for many, many others (those with PS3 versions or those who will first play through with the GOTY edition) the game will unfold completely differently.
Anyway, let them crack on with TES 5, we've got Vegas to go to next year!

I'm with Ingy on this one. "Fallout 3" - as much as I eagerly anticipated it and in spite of the clear amount of love and dedication to detail carried over from the original two FOs - ultimately left me with a dull feeling. To this day I still find the actual plot line in both FO1 & 2 more engrossing and Oblivion looked better, although it suffered from massive amounts of "mission creep" (e.g. the objective keeps shifting and getting lost amidst the new developments). I like a certain amount of open sandbox-edness, but go too far and the plot begins to lose cohesion. While "Oblivion" looks better and has a better executed combat system (which is by no means brilliant,) I find "Gothic 3"s combat-crippled system storyline much more appealing than both "Oblivion"s and "FO3"s despite it being a gem in the rough.

I really hope Elder Scrolls VI manages to reboot the franchise.

To be fair five expansion packs is a hell of a lot(after all, Oblivion only had three)and I think Bethesda have done well so far with the quality of their Dlc. Lets hope they finish with Fallout now and work on Elder Scrolls 5.

I think they could get away with one more... there's talk about "The Commonwealth" with the Rivet City side quest and the android... and after Broken Steel there's another reference to "The Commonwealth" so they could easily do an expansion about paying them a visit.

I'm very pleased at how Bethesda have supported fallout 3, and BS and PL are outstanding!

I respect his opinion and think theyve done a great job but I'd also be willing to pay for more content of the standard of BS and PL.

When are they going to release all 5 on a reasonably priced DVD so I can get them without first purchasing monopoly money from Microsoft?
Posted by HotRabbit
Exactly what I'm going to do - in fact, I stopped playing the original as I neared the end, so I could continue to level 30 later once I got all the dlc's in a 'game of the year edition'. Couldn't be mithered with all that Microsoft 'point purchasing' nonsense.

Yes guys, 5 installments of bug-ridden, glitchy, Hard Drive corrupting software is more than enough.

I should know, my hard drive is knackered due to their DLC. Im never playing fallout 3 again.
