GC: New Heavy Rain trailer, shots

Quantic Dreams uncovers two remaining campaigns
At Sony's Gamescom press conference in Germany, Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dreams showed off the game's two remaining playable characters.

One is Scott Shelby, a private detective investigating the Origami Killer case. That's all that was said about him, Quantic Dreams instead focusing on Ethan Mars, a father who, two years ago, lost sight of his son in a crowd before witnessing the boy being hit and killed by a car.

Now in a deep depression, Ethan lives with his older son who gets caught up the case of the Origami Killer, sending Ethan on a path of inevitably messed up situations to save his offspring.

"The team and I are working very hard to deliver the ambitious promise of this game," said Quantic Dreams' David Cage. No update on the 2010 release date, though.

Sounds deep, I really hope they make a great game out of this.

A good story is a good story no matter how its told.

I was unsure about this Game when I first heard the details but now this Game and God of War 3 look like the main reasons ill be picking up a PS3 next year (I aint too bothered which model, im not going to be staring at it for hours it will be the Games im looking at  ).

I'm really looking forward to this. If the story doesn't lose the plot like Fahrenheit did then I'm sold. People have complained about the use of QTE's but it looks like they're being used in a meaningful way rather than "press x to not die."

It's essentially a modern day point and click adventure, and that can only be a good thing. You don't have to be killing aliens to have fun.

I think Ethan Mars was shown in the very first video for Heavy Rain. I think he is the guy who threw the paper bird into a garden.

The latest video, showing Ethan, tells a sad tale of him losing his son. If every characters story is done as well as his, then this game will be really involving.

I think you actually have to play out the actual sequence leading up to his sons death!

Bad times. In a good times way.

trust quantic dream to make a proper adult game, not all this big guns big tits ********, Proper storytelling and an actually moving narrative. This is definately going to be a day 1 purchase for me. Both Nomad soul and Fahrenheit rate as two of my favourite games of all time.

Ah! The Nomad soul! I remember that- I didn't really like it to be honest- and the characters distorted faces made me laugh, but it had an interesting plot.

I like the more adult direction this is going in (though I'm also a fan of big guns and big t*ts too  ) I'm not swayed by the gameplay videos yet but I'll be keeping my eye on this I think!

i like big boobs and i cannot lie. you other brothers cant deny....

yeah i do too. its just refreshing to see a company actively going against the whole hoohaw marines fps vibe that seems to everywhere in game land at the moment.

I always thought The nomad soul was quite ahead of its time really. it was a good early attempt at a proper open world game.
