Deep Silver snaps up Prison Break

Worldwide publication rights secured
Deep Silver had tied down the worldwide publishing rights to the Prison Break videogame for 360, PS3 and PC, based on the Twentieth Centure Fox TV series.

According to the official blurb: "The protagonist of the "Prison Break" game is Company agent Tom Paxton. He is sent to the Fox River State Penitentiary to find out why Michael Scofield (the hero of the TV series), a man without a previous criminal record, became a bank robber.

"The storyline runs parallel to the first season of "Prison Break": Paxton encounters several characters from the series and experiences key events from his own perspective."

Nothing has been seen of the game yet, so we reckon a 2009 release is wishful thinking.

As we used to say when we were questionably killed playing Quake Deathmatch... Hmmmmmmmm

Yeah, that just sounds dull and pointless. I don't see how non-fans would want to play any type of Prison Break game, and I only see fans being interested if they can play as Michael and/or Linc.

I wonder if there will be a "putting up a sheet" mechanic?

T-Bagging, anyone? Anyone?

No, oh well. What a pointless idea for a game. Anyone remember 'The Great Escape' game from the last gen or that other WW2 prison break game? Didn't exactly set the charts on fire.
Besides, isn't the series completely finished now? Neither critics or viewers were particularly kind to it toward the end.

Stable door. Horse. Bolted.

Well as a big fan of series 1 of Prison Break, I'll be keeping an eye on this. Even though I won't be holding my breathe for too much.

Pretty much, IMO. The fundamental concept of the first season pretty much eliminated any realistic continuation of the plot once they escaped, hence the name "Prison Break". While I have found some of the episodes of later seasons entertaining, it struck me as having strayed a bit too far from the formula that gripped so many to start with (I wasn't one of them).
