Im gonna be broke with all the DLC coming out now. They probably have the map packs already made but will hold them back from release to charge us extra at a later date.
I wouldn't put anything past these people anymore, they are scum. I wonder if the higher prices that Kotick wants will apply to these as well? He will probably charge £20 per map pack, I could buy a game for that. They probably already have them made, so why not release them with the game? To peddle more money from people, that's why.
I don't care as I am not buying MW2. My money will go to people that deserve it, which Bobby Kotick (also known as Satan) doesn't. they said that about MW1. that it would be supported long after its release with DLC. 1 shitty map pack we got. Didn't they already announce this at E3? And that they'd both be timed-exclusive to 360. boo hoo. 2 is good enough. Im sure it will be a great game none the less. They probably have lots of maps anyway as they said they were bringing some from MW1 so don't worry people!
'sall good! :P Charging more for the game and then leaving some bits out so that they can charge again later? Wow! And people have the nerve to have a go at Valve for daring to make a sequel! I hope the map packs for MW2 are better than the one for MW1. Don't get me wrong, i don't mind a bit of Creek or Chinatown every now and then but they they probably get veto'd three out of every four times they come up. the only one that gets played regularly is Broadcast. I don't play free-for-all much so think i've only ever played killhouse about once! Activision why dont you just piss off every one in the world...oh wait you almost there what with your hight pirced games, the wanting to rais the price even more and then sayin you can spend £50-£150 on this game and then pay another £10 for just two packs of dlc???? come on for gods sack at least give us are moneys worth god cod 4 got i map pack cod 5 got 3 plus an extra FUN mode and now the most wanted cod game sofar gets a pice hick and just high map packs!!! I bet they will only have like 2-3 maps per pack yay thats kind of them aint it???? Im so glad im only payin £29.99 for my copy of the hardened edition that will piss Activision off some what This policy of planning and making your DLC before the game is even out makes me sick. It could be put on the standard disc, but gets held back for the sake of money grabbing. It's an appalling business model.
I'm fine with DLC after a few months to improve the longevity of the game and maybe get some new folks interested or win back old players, but at least wait until people have the game before you tell them they're going to need to fork out even more cash to get the full experience. Ill wait six months to buy the game cheaper and with the DLC included like last time. I refuse to pay for the Map packs full stop out of principle. Im fine to pay £50 for the FULL game, with free DLC afterwards to stop me trading it in. However, to pay £45, plus £8 and another £8 for something that should be free like on the PC, they can kiss my …. Well it doesn't help when fans actually request DLC, so what do you expect. Fans! oooh boy do I hate that term to describe customers. DLC should be in the game from the word go or as updates if they want to release the game to recoup the publishers money. Look at Fallout 3 the content is nearly if not already the cost of a new game. ...they keep doing it as people keep buying it...pure and simple. I dread to think what LBP will have cost if u got all the pointless costumes Hmm, I do wonder how much these will be. I'm happy buying DLC as long as its a good amount for a good price. I bought the first 2 Killzone map packs, but realized that actually it was a lot of money for only 2 maps. The most annoying thing is of course that the PC version will be cheaper and the maps will be free... I really don't like the idea of DLC anymore. It seems to made the developers a bit too money hungry especially when they announce the packs before the games release. It sounds like something that could easily be put in with the game(and should be for the rrp they're selling it at) but instead they are going to postpone it so we have to fork out the extra bit they left out.
I preferred the days when DLC was non existent and they just bundled it in expansion packs that were more worth the money. I cannot wait, roll on the COD storm I just hope these map packs: A) Don't cost more than 800 points; B) Have more than four maps in them C) Would be nice if they included new weapons. Let's be honest from MW 1 I didn't really get to play killhouse, Chinatown was just a night time version of a map from CoD2, so that left us with broadcast and creek. I personally didn't like creek (because it was nearly impossible for me to see people on my SD TV) This is probably the rest of content that couldn't fit on the 6 disc Xbox Edition of the game. 6 discs? :?
Call of Duty? :?
6 discs? :? If people continue to support paid-for download content, eventually all of these types of games will get smaller and you'll have to pay and download the rest of the game. I have never paid for any extra content, even for games I love.
With console game prices on the rise, the cost of extra content, plus Xbox Live, PC gaming is starting to appear quite attractive. For example, how little would it cost to buy a second-hand PC capable of 360/PS3 quality graphics? Not much I expect.
Before the Xbox I spent several years playing just three FPS on the computer. Each of those games effectively gave me more pleasure, and for far longer, than any single console game. Plus, computer gamers seem more loyal to their favourite games. On a console everyone seems desperate to stop playing their current game and buy new stuff.
I'm thinking that the day Live is £60 and games average that price, then I'll finally return to my favourite (and in truth, the ultimate...) way of playing shooters. With a mouse and keyboard. Thinking about it... Activision, Microsoft, and the rest, please keep pushing those prices up, it's the best incentive for me to move on. quote) Just something i thought might be of interest.
MS: Paid DLC Causes Games to Sell $21M More, Overall Xbox Live Marketplace Sales Total $240By Aaron Linde Aug 06, 2008 1:02pm CST tags:Microsoft, DLC, Xbox Live Marketplace Xbox 360 titles supplemented by paid downloadable content on the Xbox Live Marketplace sell an average of $21M more at retail, Microsoft interactive entertainment business manager Kevin Salcedo revealed at the company's recent GameFest event. According to Gamasutra, the manager stipulated that the boost in sales typically required the content to be launched within a 30-day "sweet spot". The data reflects growing industry trends in which more and more games are arriving to retailers with DLC already available, or with content planned well in advance of release. "Right now we have over 12 million users in over 26 countries, with $240 million in transactions revenue so far, with $180 million in the last 12 months alone," Salcedo added. Downloadable content also keeps consumers hanging onto titles longer than those titles which are not supported by content updates. "On average, titles that have downloadable content on XBL marketplace have seen a 16 percent period of people holding onto that title, which keeps them from selling to secondhand stores," he said. In addition to extending the shelf-life of a game, downloadable content can prove a viable marketing tool for titles already on the shelves. Originally planned for the early fall, the first piece of content for Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV was recently delayed to publisher Take-Two's 2009 fiscal year first quarter. The publisher said the content was delayed "in order to provide a better balance in Take-Two's release schedule," suggesting that the content was pushed back for marketing reasons rather than development hiccups. The availability of new downloadable content could possibly boost holiday sales for the open-world shooter, originally released this past April.(end article )
So does this "Sweet Spot" mean that games companies admit they withhold content from the release.shock horror, like we didn't know but sometimes its good to hear it from the horses mouth. In Fact i think they have gone past simply withholding content, its just standard business practice now to develop a game to include a SP training game for the MP game which will have within the "Sweet Spot" time period a paid for DLC map pack and paid for DLC "Bling" so this is the "Next Gen Gaming "they were all on about o.k i get it now sorry though i still wont be getting with the programme. They probably have all the ideas outlined, but apart from that I doubt they are made, Considering the fact that InfinityWard have not yet finalized the campaign, let alone online-play maps.
It still hasnt been locked down yet.
And by the way "I wouldn't put anything past these people anymore, they are scum", please bare in mind that Activision are not responsible for the packs, InfinityWard are, ..and your calling a legendary FPS Studio, scum? Lol.
Either way, I think two map packs are perfect, so long as they are not brought out so close together like WAW is receiving, Would be nice to see them both near the middle of MW2's life, in order to keep the community rolling.
Two is enough, one is less, three is milking. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA console nubs, you have t pay for DLC, where PC gamers just get it free in an update :) Believe me when I say I dislike Activision, but I recently invested in their stock in hopes of getting a return off MW2. So when I hear about stuff like this I'm outraged but then realize my return will be increased. Does this put me with the badguys? 2 is about right. WaW doesn't deserve 3 packs, it doesn't deserve any actually, it's a hopeless game. I'm still happy with the single DLC in COD4, so 2 is fine for me. The pricing will always be high, for increased profitability. As everyone always says, if you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT! Simple. You're not forced to pay for it. PLANNING DLC!! Activision stop freaking mugging us! If you know you are gonna make the maps just bloody but them on the disc!!! Well I for one would welcome you back to the PC fold. It's lovely here if a bit expensive to get in initially. Looks very nice if you want to splash out. But pretty much everything after you get in is cheaper (game prices), or free (all DLC's). Only real downside is can be a bit barren for titles every now and then.
Ok, so we don't get the map packs as quick as the XBox but we get fan made maps. I've been playing on fan map servers for a while and most are very professionally done and have more innovation than anything IW come up with. |
