New Silent Hill: Shattered Memories screens

Wii-make creeps up on us inside
Konami has released new shots of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, which is a kind-of remake of the original PlayStation game. That said it does feature an all-new soundtrack by series composer Akira Yamaoka and you'll be able to use your Wii Remote as a torch. Now that's progress since 1999. We'll be seeing the latest version at GamesCom next week in Germany.

Ewwwwwww! I really hope those are just bad screenshots. Looks nasty!

When some games on the Wii are looking much worse than PS2 games that were out years and years ago, you know there is a problem.

And Ninty wonder why they have no 'core' gamers?

Those are actually screens from the PSP version, you can tell by the difference in quality as these are Wii screens below.

The UI in the second pic suggests otherwise.

come guys, it can't be all bad can it.

Apparently, the Wii version looks excellent (for the system), with exemplary use of real-time shadow. - I don't know which version these screenshots are from, but you can bet your life that the Wii iteration looks better in motion.

I'm sure it'll look better in motion. Most wii games do. Then again gaming isn't all about graphics now is it kids.

How strange... You are correct in noticing that the UI suggests that at least that shot is from the Wii version but IZO's linked shots show far better quality graphics and are more like I would expect to see from the Wii.

However graphics are not everything and I would like to play this version as in my opinion the original PS1 version was the best in the series and amongst the best horror games ever made.

I think the shots CVG have posted are actually in game shots, the others look pre rendered.

I agree 100%, graphics don't make a game, however they are a massive factor in how immersed you feel in a game, for example a similar survival horror game like Dead Space.

Going off the screenshots that Konami have released I think its safe to say it looks worse than Silent Hill 2, this was a game released in 2001.

Core gamers recognise this and thats why you struggle to find them on the Wii.

However the better screens do not look good enough to be pre rendered and are exactly the sort of quality that we would expect from the wii. The c&vg shots do indeed look like psp quality shots but that does not explain the single shot with wii controls in it (although it could be that this shot is indeed a wii shot while the others are psp). We will find out soon anyway.
