Rock Band FTW I guess it really depends on how many tracks they include in the game. Sometimes it'd probably work out cheaper to buy the full game (if you wanted all the tracks, that is).
Van Halen aren't really my cup of tea, so I doubt I'll be picking this one up.
:) Exactly, it's really starting to get out of hand now, 90% of the songs they release for download every week are cack, and then as soon as they get something worthwhile they put it out as a separate game just so they can make more money from it.
At least this is better than lego rock band, I suppose. I wish everyone would stop buying these cash ins. YES. Stop the cash ins.
But PLEASE release GH: IRON MAIDEN. You can bet my ass that when GH: Iron Maiden comes out that I will have it as a day 1 buy. Van halen are just awesome... If I was actually a fan of the Guitar hero franchise i'd probably buy it, but instead I have their whole discography much better purchase... Thing is - GH is pretty much the perfect model for cashing-in...this was always going to happen.
It could have just simply failed at the first game. It was a gamble getting people to fork out on the controller and game, but it worked on the strength of the gameplay and general reception. The franchise has just gotten stronger and onto astronomical proportions....then we get Rock Band, which just ups the ante.
I don't see the problem with these band-centred editions - if you're a fan, you'll buy it...if you aren't, you'll consider it. For Activision, it's relatively low-cost and they can continue to churn them out...thing is, they'll eventually (hopefully) use a band I love. Van Halen isn't it, but the rumoured GH: Hendrix would be great. I do prefer how Rock Band does it, but I don't think these are that bad a thing.
