The only concern I have now is that when one player gets a powerup/dies, the screen freezes in traditional Mario style. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly that helpful for other players, especially when one of your teammates lands on a mushroom before falling into an enemy before falling into an abyss, meaning three screen freezes in quick succession. They didn't mention it in this article but they explained it at E3. The screen doesn't freeze when a player dies, they return floating in a bubble and it's up to the other players whether they release him/her or not.
Looks good, enjoyed the DS version. What I mean is that split second freeze occurs when something to one of the players.
IE. In SMW or whatever, upon touching a mushroom, all enemies and other animations would freeze whilst Mario does the growing animation accompanied by the noise.
In this game, the same happens, which is fine except for the fact that there's three other players trying to time jumps and stuff, and it could really throw you off. IVE GOT A RED CAP AND SOMETIMES PLAY WITH IT WHEN MISS ISNT LOOKING. IT HASNT GOT AN M ON IT THOUGH JUST A O. I WONDER IF IT IS CALLED OLLY. ILL ASK MISS IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE OLLY THE PLUMBER. I DONT THINK HE IS A PLUMBER BUT MAYBE A PAINTER. ILL ASK MISS IF SHE WANTS ME TO DECORATE ANYTYHING. Hate to break it to you, but the fire-throwing koopas aren't new. They're way back in Super Mario Bros 3, in the secret area in World 2, where you find the magic whistle Well I don't know what you are talking about because the magic whistle in world 2 was part of a level and you had to fly up and over to a little secret bit, and there was certainly no fireball throwing koopas there. I can't remember where the second place is you find the magic whistle, but i'm pretty sure I have never seen a fireball throwing Koopa. Never saw one as a kid playing my NES, and didn't see any when I brushed off my NES last month and played through SMB1,2 and 3.
ANYWAAYYY, this looks awesome, will have to buy a Wii for this and that awesome hand drawn japanese side scroller I can never remember the name of. Is at me or is anyone a bit annoyed of the two toads? I was so happy when this was announced, i have wanted a 2d mario adventure since the gamecube on a non-handheld system! Being brought up with mario have always seen toad as an individual character and not toads multiples, just like with yoshi and not yoshi;s! why couldnt we have four uindividual character like in mario bros 2? please take note Nintendo as i cant be the only person thinking this! What other four player games is there with player 3 and 4 having to be the same person but different colour? Halo 3?
I agree though, couldn't they have used the princess? I'd love to have seen players 3 and 4 being donkey kong and diddy kong. A Mario & DK platform game incorperating enemies and levels from both series, that would have been awesome.
I'd love to see Nintendo take the DK series back and make it their own again. RARE's rendered platformers were great, DK64 wasn't quite upto Banjo standards and far below Mario64 but I think Nintendo could produce a decent title for DK, forget the terible Barrel Blast and rhythm based Jungle beat, give us a DK platformer - 2D or 3D, I don't mind!
Surely the Mode 7 and Super FX chip techniques in the SNES days could have panned the screen in and out though!? :?: I'm sorry, but this game looks like a gimped version of LBP. Lazy It looks really fun to play, I can see me and some friends playing this for hours, I wonder if it has online play too? Online capability?
Just wondered, as getting the missus to play this is highly unlikely... Get over yourself dickhead. Regardless of your lofty position in the Sony Defence Force you know this game will be a laugh.
If they can take this online I guess WiiSpeak will be a necessity. I would expect Wiispeak yes. Sounds like it would be a riot too. I have a whole houshold here that will be playing this game with me. I really cannot wait!
Oh yeah, this game is bugger all like LBP. If that comparison is used, then Sackboy is a ripoff of Billy from Everquest 2. This game is confirmed to have no online support, unfortunately.
It seems a local affair through and through. |
