Batman demo this Friday

On PSN and XBLA. Be excited
Eidos has confirmed that a playable demo of Batman: Arkham Asylum will go live on XBLA and PSN this Friday, August 7.

"The demo offers gamers a taste of the fierce FreeFlow combat system, the cunning stealth of the Invisible Predator mechanic, and the feeling of becoming the World's Greatest Detective as they navigate Arkham Asylum's imposing Intensive Treatment facility," explains Eidos.

Excellent news - at least this means that people get a chance to make their own minds up while this review embargo stuff goes on.

Unfortunately for me, I won't get to play it until Sunday - but, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

:)

Oh, cool.

I'll download both versions to see if one is significantly better than the other. If not, I'll be getting the PS3 version for The Joker.

Ace.

There is a review on metacritic saying this is one of the classics. Up there with Bioshock and the original gears. Really looking forward to this. The whole batman franchise seems to have turned the corner in recent years.

Woo Hoo!

Ill be downloading this straight away on Friday.

(Please dont feck it up. Please dont feck it up. PLease dont feck it up. Please Dont feck it up.)

I really hope that's true - it certainly looks to be a brilliant game. The problem is that you can't really trust any reviews that have surfaced so far, because we know about Eidos' dirty tricks with the magazines - the fact that this game doesn't even look like it needs any help to get good reviews just makes it even more of a shame.

Still, a demo should clear all that up - I probably would have bought it if it'd got an average of 70% in the ratings....it's Batman and you get to fight Bane - I'm in.

:)

The reviews appear to be controvertial at the moment, with only 2 being available. I received OPM yesterday and they gave the game 9/10. Gamesmaster gave it 90+. I tend to wait for IGN.

We'll know for sure if the game is any good when we play the game for ourselves, later this week.

Fingers crossed.

9 out of 10 in this months OPM with a very, very positive review.

Its xbl for demos not xbla which is completely different.

If the playable Joker doesn't sway you towards the PS3 version, this just might:

http://www.thehut.com/hut/thehut/games/coming-soon.list

£24.93 for pre-order - for some reason, the 360 version costs more....if you want to make a further saving, there is a 10% reduction voucher (it's only valid for today, though).

There's also the option to pre-order GT5 at Amazon for about £18, or so I'm told. Supposedly, Amazon are really good about honouring these prices too.

Bargains galore.

:)

Cool. Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon fooked up the price for GT5 and have now amended it. :( I'm not sure if they will honour the existing pre-orders, or not....

sweet. not really fussed about challenge rooms so i'll proabably opt for the 360 version. because i prefer the controller.

Still be downloading both demos just to make sure one of them isn't marginally better than the other though

The most exciting news in this months OPM, is that Uncharted 2 will be reviewed next issue! 1st September, or maybe sooner, to be precise.

Can't wait to read that one.
Posted by voodoo341
Yeah noticed that. Then again it's one of the few games I'm happy to preorder without seeing a review.
Posted by voodoo341
Excellent link there. I've just ordered it. I owe you a pint.

..you are all big kids..getting excited over a Batman game...
Posted by WHERESMYMONKEY
i'm swayed. so uh what you drinking. coz i owe you one.
Posted by DazedandConfused
It's looking seriously good but i'd never listen to any official mag review. Especially not for a release that's been this hyped.

nice ill be dl this one, gettin it for ps3 day one
Posted by voodoo341
To be honest the OPM have never been far of the mark for review scores in my opinion. I couldn't say the same about PSW whos review scores baffle me sometimes.

No probs guys....make mine a Heineken!

Great link cheers! Extra 10% off today as well so only £22.49!

Quick warning guys - it doesn't seem to mention it anywhere on the site, but I have to wonder whether this is from another region. It would explain why the PS3 is so much cheaper than the 360 version, but I'm not sure whether that will have any effect on the online side of things.

Obviously, you're all region-free anyway...but, I figured it was worth mentioning.

:)

i preordereed this game last week, lets just hope i made the right choice. but from the looks of things it seems i did :D

Well I did post about 8:30 last night that GT5 was cheap and everyone had last night to order.

You've got to be quicker with these bargains people!!!

I'd also doubt that thehut are selling grey imports, they're a pretty big company who run the Tesco and Zavvi entertainment sites, aswell as their own. But the difference in price seems very weird to me.

Really?, I'll have to pick it up.
Back on topic I'll definitely be downloading this, it could be game of the year so far IF what we are hearing about it is true.

Pre-Ordered the collectors Edition For ONLY £30 on amazon ages ago ! that's a ****ing bargain ! the RRP is at 50
Posted by WHERESMYMONKEY
I have a feeling all versions of Batman will be region free. They tend to be when a game gets a worldwide release.
Posted by shadowsblaze
Out of curiosity, the current issue of OPM with the Arkham Asylum review didn't have a picture of Batman on the front cover did it? You can probably guess why I'm asking.

By the way, got the new issue of GamesTM at the end of last week. No Arkham review as yet, but there was an advert on the back cover for Arkham with Eidos quoting Gamesmaster's review.

Even though Gamesmaster is denying any funny deals with Eidos, this advert doesn't really help their case.

Edit: Forget the question - I already have my answer:
