If it is I'll buy a plane ticket Japan pronto, just to slap Square's chairman around the head! i hope not that storys run its course, a new story with the same materia and fight system , yes please Excellent, I hope it's something to do with FF7. I've been in a big FF7 mood lately. When I went on holiday I downloaded it off PSN to play on my PSP, sunk many hours into it. Then bought Crisis Core, and Advent Children on Blu-Ray. I want mooorrree! :) Of god more bait. CVG you crafty *******s you.
I got more excited reading this on Kotaku when it said there was a big VI in hopes it was to announce a Final Fantasy VI remake. There is some kind of circle thing in the background, at first I thought it was Midgar, but it isn't.
I'm sorry but I can't wait 'till 12. Whatever it is, anything less than an announcement of an FF7 remake is going to be dissapointing. Could this be... it?

It sure don't hope so... Putting my rational hat back on (and putting away my fanboy hat) I have a feeling that this countdown may run for 7 more days. First thing to note is the DAYS under the VII and that the website name has 0807 in the name. Is that 7th of August (7 days time from now - incidentally)? Or is it completely irrelevant?
We'll see at 12PM. And now I feel a little saddened by my cold logic... I'm trying my hardest not to get excited about this, it just couldn't be.........could it?, nah it couldn't!. Never know seeing as the PSN ff7 sold in solid numbers that it could be the remake. Ha ha, yeah. A countdown to a countdown. At the end of the second countdown, they will announce that there will be an announcement.
Thinking about it though, do I really want a remake of 7, considdering that square haven't really been on a good run of form since FF12? Crap, you were right. B*LOX!!!. i'd rather square actually got a bloody move on and released FF XIII to be perfectly honest. A FF VII remake would just be another distraction.
stop railroading these simple people and give us XIII already!!! Told you, starts again at six days.

Ah. Crap. I think you may be right. Why would it have the word "Days"? If it were to do with FF7, it probably would have just have had a VII.. If you look closely, I am sure that you can see a bloke in the picture, to the right side. There also appear to be feathers dropping down, and which FF game used feathers more than any other?
46:00 mins to go! it does say "VII DAYS" people whats that all about? lol Just to add; the tab in my Chrome browser reads '0807'... 7th of August? Even if it does finish on the 7th of August, the signs still point to a remake. Like I said about the feathers and the very fact that it is coming out on the 7th of the month. The fact that the coundown starts on 7 days. Even the concentric circles in the middle arguably look like Midgar.

The VII changed to a VI and the counter reset and started counting back from 24 hours. yeah the count down today will probly reveal something thas gona happen on 7th of august which is 7 days away, probably a release or something

However much I'd love a FF7 remake, i think if this is FF7 related it will be FF7-2 or another FF7 film.
However, if you screenshot the page before the VI comes up, right in the centre im making out a figure, and if you look to the right and left of it you can make out wings. Not sure what that means - could it be bahamut related? Well as expected it changed to VI days, but that doesn't mean it won't be to do with FFVII, nor does it mean it has anything to do with it at all. Guess we'll find out next Friday. Or, indeed, Genesis over Midgar. Could very well be a depiction of Jenova, too Maybe. That Genesis storyline hasn't finished yet to my knowledge. Another sequel could be good, if they do it properly. No gun totting action please. probably going to be something crap like NIER New FFtheory. The circles are Midgar and the winged thing in the middle is in place of the (ruined?) Shinra building. Maybe the winged thing has 'replaced' Shinra in control of Midgar and this is just a suggestory piece of artwork? its says VI now, six days. i think it might be an announcement when ff13 will be released. Won't this just be the new Final Fantasy game on the DS they said was coming a while back? LOL,i love it how CVG just go straight ahead and announce that its a Final Fantasy 7 countdown

That was a seperate countdown, so the hope is still on! a FF7 remake is major major news, something that would be announced at E3, or Tokyo game show not like this though, sorry. probably a DS port at best but more likely a Anime It's for Lord of Vermillion, some arcade card duelling game in Japan. Guess they are going to annouce it for the West, probably console release.

Crap, really wanted this to be FFVII remake, I really did. Oh well, saved 6 days of my life. i would love to see FF7 on XBLA, port of the old PC version shouldn't be too difficult! Look's like there a train in the top right corner :? *wishing pleassssseeee let it be a remake* New Final Fantasy, new Final Fantasy Verses, new Final Fantasy Online, new DSi and PSP games and now this!
I thought games cost a bloomin fortune to make and here, amidst a global recession, Square Enix deliver out more Final Fantasys than there is pound coins.
Hopin it to be a Final Fantasy 7 remake! Just a few grammerikal issues here lol, I have to type fast in work ... Screw VII, give me a V Remake XD It's gone to V days. A hologram sort of thing comes out after a few seconds which looks a bit like Jenova. There are also some more fadey bits in the back but I can't make out what they are. Finally, some very blurry Japanese writing has appeared at the bottom. It's nothing to do with FF VII pal, check the link in nazAareths post.

i get a massive sense of deja vu that cvg has posted 2 other suggestively titled square countdown storys I have to agree with the people who say wtf , give me ff13 i have ff7 if i want a remake put it out in 2012 after all the 13 games and KH games are done , i can play the ps1 version in the meantime. Id rather see a ff6 remake than anything else right now . 7 have been milked enough. Guys ive decompiled the flash and the count only goes down to III.
Interestingly, when the count gets to V some japanese text appears below the five. I've taken a screenshot below when it is on III.. hopefully someone can decipher something:

First it said 'VI' days, now it says 'III' days. There were already threads discounting this rumour when the 'news' went up.
I don't want a remake, they will freaking ruin it. I love the game to bits but Advent Children sucked hard, as did the other spin-offs.
Leave the great games alone, lest Square Enix prove they just can't cut it anymore. |
