Braid PS3 is rated

German ratings board gets the scoop
It looks like Braid, the unique time-bending platformer that got everyone talking when it hit XBLA last year, is finally coming to PS3.

The game's creator, Jonathan Blow, has said in the past that a PS3 version "might happen in the future," and that now seems certain as German ratings board USK has listed the game for PS3 on its site (spotted by NeoGAF). A pretty reliable nod, we say.

As far as a Wii version goes, Blow had previously said: "WiiWare is not going to happen for this game ... Braid is too big of a game to be downloaded on WiiWare and stored on someone's Wii." But then Nintendo made that update so you can runs games off an SD card.

PS3 people though, should check out this review of the XBLA version for the lowdown on the treats hopefully in store.

Cool another awesome game making its way PSN. Definately one of the best downloadable games ever made. the music, the plot, the tricky as hell puzzles. a damn masterpiece from start to finish.

I don't know about PSN Braid being rated. More like overrated!

After all the usual hyperbole, I bought it for the 360 and hated almost every second.

This should explain it:

10 For Run=Jump + Die
20 If rewind then Go to 10
30 If figure out trial and error puzzle then next
40 Go to 10

And don't even get me started on the ridiculous story of loss and betrayal. Blah blah.

Don't worry.
Nobody's trying to get you started.

Good for ps3 only owners who don't own a 360.

If i hadn't completed this ages ago on my 360 i'd buy it for my ps3.
I think it'll be popular, it's a clever game really.

Of course, it's been on pc for a while as well now, it doesn't need a powerful pc to run it either.
A lot of ps3 owners may have it on pc already.

Its a bit like MArmite. you either love it or hate it.

Surprised you didn't download the trial before purchasing it mark. If you hated it so much it would of been obvious from the opening couple levels it offers you.

If your idea of a good game is COD though. this aint the game for you. If you want something a little deeper than most of the bland, brown and grey crap on the current gen of consoles this is definately for you.

One of last year's best games in my opinion.

If your thinking about buying this game, check out my full review of it. I played through the entire game to make sure I could judge the whole thing.

Really, I thought everyone liked it.

It's like Portal but with time-manipulation instead of space-manipulation to solve great puzzles, and instead of the humour of Portal it has a story of loss. And of course the endings to both these little genius games are fantastic.

Mind you, I got it for 800 points then got a 500 point refund, so it's easily the best purchase I've made on XBLA :D

Great game, fantastic music, and above all fun to play...it does require a bit of thought though, so if you're lacking in the grey matter department give it a miss, otherwise it's a great addition to the PS3 games library!

Cool. Only played a demo, but I really liked it.

But why can't we love games like this AND still love the brown and grey crap like COD? It's all good.

It seems to me that this game appeals to intelligent people who don't like things/games getting the better of them. And those appreciate the feeling of finally working out a puzzle.

Anyway, i would imagine this will sell terribly, as i'm sure that when it was earning all the rave reviews on the 360, every PS3 owner on here wrote about how terrible it is. Despite. Never. Having. Played. It.

You don't have to be thick to hate Braid. That's the most preposterous nonsense I have ever read.

I'm far from thick, and in my opinion, Braid is a wile of pank.

I don't think you have to be thick to hate it, I'm just saying it generally appeals to more intelligent people. And people who take pleasure from being faced with a seemingly impossible task and then beating it.

Mmm. And I wonder how many of these intelligent people used a walkthrough? If trial and error is classic gameplay, then I have the wrong hobby.

I'd have more fun eating my way out of an Elephant pap mountain, than trying to complete that game without help.

But it helps though Mark, it helps  ?

The majority of games are based on "trial and error" and generally are all the more fun for it, e.g. "what speed can I take this corner at?", "should I use the shotgun or flame-thrower?", "what weapon will kill this boss?" etc!... so yes, it sounds like you do have the wrong hobby.

And I agree with "The_Johnson's" comments in that you are far more likely to enjoy a game such as Braid if you prefer games that require logical thought processes and a degree of puzzle solving which does require a greater degree of intellect without which this type of game can become frustrating very quickly...the same being true of the "classic" adventure games, from Zork through to the LucasArts titles.

If you purchase a game and then simply use a walkthrough to complete it, what the hell was the point in buying it in the first place?

great stuff
Cant wait to play

Mmm. I've completed most of LucasArts point and click adventures, including Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. In fact, my first adventure game was the Hobbit on the Spectrum 48k and I became hooked on them ever since then.

I adore puzzles and have recently completed Prof. Layton on DS 100%, without too much fuss.

I could go on, but the difference with all of the above games is that they were enjoyable.

I worked out a puzzle by accident, on Braid, the one where you have to use a jigsaw piece as a platform. I initially thought, 'Oh, that was clever', until I realised that there was nary a clue to the conundrum in the first place!

I hate games like that.
