Pretty boring cover, in all honesty. Oh great bad move by Activision. Should have left the Call of Duty branding off this one and kept it as a new series. Oh well their loss.
Yeah the cover isnt exactly epic is it! There is a 50-50 chance I will be getting the game but to be honest I don't care what the cover looks like. And to me this isn't Call of Duty .... modern warfare isn't call of duty simple as that. I wish they would make up their minds with this... :roll: kinda looks like they just did :p who complains about a cover, they could show a picture of poo for all i care. Careful pishers, pub lunch is fast approaching. You wish may well be granted. One thing made me giggle why not show all of the formats covers off and not just the xbox360? typically fanboyish don't you think? Just makes it look more fan made. In defense of CVG, this is the only game site I really can be arsed to look at, so yes it is news to me. No more sleepless nights! Probably that Activision didnt want IW to get too big for their boots and insisted on it being CoD.
Also probably due to rights and ownership too. I honestly think that it is because Infinity Ward are actually contracted to the Call of Duty brand, it is in there contract.
And if they produce a game without Call of Duty in the title, Then it isnt really a Call of Duty game, thus meaning that they will have to make a Call of Duty game, per contract. You know?.
Hard to personally explain it from my point of view, But thats what I think the reason is, Activision contracted Infinity Ward for the Call of Duty, not the "Modern Warfare"
And who ever is complaining about the cover art, I would 1) Love to see you try make a cover art piece, And 2) Ask that, You do know how much time goes into these things?.

And to the guy who stated fanboyism for showing the xbox 360 case, ..Look behind that kid, the PC case is there too. -shock-. The whole point of a cover is to catch the attention of a potential buyer. That cover just says "average military simulator" to me. Looks dull. I think this should be the cover...

cvg always post stuff 2/3 days after everyone knows already. add to the fact that no one gives a flying **** what the game is called and how big the text is on the cover and you have yourself a slow old news day.

maybe thats the problem with the stale-ness of this site. get some fresh blood in rather than these oaps getting excited about mediocre subjects such as box art. I won't buy it. I am done with first person shooters for the moment and I think that this will be exactly like CoD5, they will rush it in time for christmas and everyone will be bitterly disappointed by it. The industry needs to either be more balanced or move onto a new fad genre, this one is getting very old very fast. @ lordirongut
Its hardly gonna be rushed, they will have worked on it for 2 years come release date. And trust me this will be the daddy of all cod games.
Cod5 was as expected, THEY were a DIFFERENT developer. So its unfair o say mw2 will be rushed and dissapointing like cod5.
Infinty Ward = Top developers that redifined FPS.
Treyarch = Semi skilled developers that need there hands holding The Call of Duty name is back, but the '6' isn't there, denoting (to me, at any rate) that this is a new franchise, despite the inclusion or exclusion of the name on the box.
Fine by me. This was always gonna be a purchase for me. @Tobal - I have actually looked into working at CVG, Though whenever I email them for details, they never get back in touch. Would love to work on this site, though I feel they just dont care. lol. @mmmgrolsch
You may be right, but CoD4 had an unlimited dev time, so they could perfect it. CoD5 had a deadline, so it was riddled with bugs. CoD6 also has a deadline, so they may not have time to iron out the problems, although I hope for everyone's sake they do. I had never heard of Treyarch before CoD5 so I don't know about their other works, but Infinity Ward has always had success with it's games. Activision may be the people who spoil it and probably will because they will want it out before Christmas so that they can reap the most profits. Teyarch did the mess called COD3 and they did Cod2 which wasn't as good as IW version for the 360.
Infinity ward had unlimited dev time due to them creating a new game engine to bring the stale cod series back to life.
There won't be a problem with loads of bug's e.t.c as they are using there same engine but a re defined version. As it is IW's engine and that they have the most experience with it. Its almost gautanteed that MW2 will be close to perfect.
I wouldn't worry to much about Activision ruining it, IW has alot of influence of what goes and they are Activisions most respected and Talented developers.

Theres no point in Showing IW history as they havn't done many game's. It was a pretty stupid idea removing it from the title in the first place as newcomers to the series wouldn't know what it was. Glad they finally saw sense and put it back. Y'know life is good when people complain a cover looks boring when it features explosions, fire, shrapnel, a fully automatic gun and a mean looking soldier. I've just got one question, Where's the PS3 cover? Please tell us how long it takes to create a game cover with one image, one title and one logo? I'm fascinated to hear your expert opinion? Who cares out about the name or the front cover!!
As long as the game follows on from the last No.4 then it doesn't matter.

The whole cover makes me want to cut my face off. Seriously the amount of money Infinity Ward and Activision made from the first MW game and this is the best they could come up with?! I'm a graphic designer and the quality of game covers these days are quite frankly shit. I'm not sure what goes through these peoples heads when they design these things, they are cheap and look rubbish, hell slapping some concept art on the case would be better than this sack of arse. This looks like a fake.... The "Call of duty" bit is in the same style as World At War, Modern warfares was slightly different. The waw one had sort of a brown tinge to it that you can sorta see in this one. i like the way the building of congress in the US is in tatters......... just the way it should be.
i reckon the cover is pretty accurate. its a realistic shooter concerning terrorists (again) and therefore the pallet of colours should be bland and horrible like war itself.
if it was a sci fi shooter then it should be colourful and inventive.
besides, anything with that horrid toxic green for a boundary will look bland and rubbish. "It's the question we know you've been dying to find an answer to for months"
