Three new sponsors for Rapha Condor

By BikeRadar

The Rapha Condor Professional Cycling Team have signed three new sponsorship deals that will bring some household names to their distinctive jersey.

Sharp Electronics, Paul Smith Jeans and Malmaison Hotel Group will be supporting the team for the remainder of 2009. Their logos will appear on team jerseys and Kristian House’s national champion’s jersey at the Tour of Ireland in August.

Sharp will use their sponsorship of the team to promote Sharp4Prostate, a joint initiative with The Prostate Cancer Charity which aims to increase awareness and raise funds to fight the most common cancer in men.

Sir Paul Smith is a well known cycling enthusiast and has worked with Rapha on a number of cycling-related projects, but thsi is the first time his logo has appeared on the jersey of a professional cycling team.

The third name to be added to the jersey is that of boutique hotel brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, who join the team as their official hospitality partner. The tie-up will see the squad visit a number of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin locations as part of a mini 'tour of Britain' training camp in August.

Rapha founder and CEO Simon Mottram said: “For these premium brands to choose cycling as a vehicle for their sponsorship activity is a hugely important moment for the Rapha Condor project. The sport has been growing rapidly over the past few years but it has taken the big brands a while to act on the opportunity that cycling has to offer. The brands that have joined the team for the rest of the year have seen the synergy with the Rapha and Condor brands and their target audience, and we’re looking forward to working with them this year and, hopefully, beyond.”

  • Just why has Kristian House got the Texan flag on the back of his British Champions jersey? He needs to make his mind up just where he is from.

  • Bet it took ages to design that jersey!

  • Rapha-Condor-Recycling used to just roll off the tongue. It was like velvet, except that I never have velvet on my tongue, but that's just something I have to come to terms with.

Rapha-Condor-Paul Smith-Malmaison will just be a pain in the ar53 to report on if we get a another Tour Series next year.

  • delighted to see House get the support he deserves. top lad- great talent

  • Rapha Condor Paul Smith Malmaison Sharp 4 Prostate. Hmmm.

    Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli.

What's going on here with cycling and crazy team names?

  • OMG Paul Smith yes. Oh yes, as a Nottingham boy this is great news. I couldn't afford one of his Bonnevilles but I could strtch to a rapha top.

  • I really like the way they have kept to the true style of cycling and intergrated the sponsors logo's into the original design its almost as if they weren't there but they really are and thats the secret its subliminal and those union jacks on the shoulders we are meant to think they have been sewn on by their mums but really it a super expensive high stitched retro holographic carbon illusionwhich double up as tardis pockets so you can fit a spare wheel in . god rapha are so cool.

  • Kristian House has a Texas Flag on the back og his collar because I grew up there. I use to race against him a few years back. He always use to come out to the local races when he was in town.

  • yes Big Tex, but if he is not careful he will be seen in the same light as those other popular "British" athletes, Zola Budd and Greg Rusedski.

  • innocenti your arguement is seriously flawed. Zola Budd and Greg Rusedski both changed to become British from another nationality. Kristian was born in Canterbury with British parentage and has only ever had a British passport, has family in the uk, lives in the uk...He's proud to have grown up in Texas, doesn't make him any less British.
