MAG Beta is "internal only"

You're not invited and neither are we
A multiplayer beta for Sony's 256-player online shooter, MAG: Massive Action Game, is currently under way, but you're not invited.

Reports of a "MAG Beta" showing up on people's now-playing status on PSN are cropping up, reported to be the profiles of Sony employees.

Sony confirmed to CVG that it is indeed a "closed Beta" for "internal staff only", so you've got no chance of getting on it yourself. But it could be a sign that the expected public beta test will be with us sooner rather than later?

I'd really like to try MAG, if only to see how it all works with so many players.

Dare I say, I am more intrigued than excited?

Not a wise move I must say, there are plenty flaws within the strategy of actually having a Internal "Closed Beta", opposed to actually allowing the public grasp it and bug-spot, and data check and all that.

I dare say it, how can a 30+ QA Team, find all the bugs, opposed to a 1,000+ Public audience. And that is just one of the flaws, In effect, it is an MMO and MMO's are designed to stand such amazing amounts of stressed opposed to the games like Call of Duty, which have servers added in, MMO's literally live off the servers and players, ..QA Teams do alpha testing, not closed betas, too many flaws and a big wrong decision by sony.

Could it be that they are making it a closed beta because it hasn't turned out to be as amazing as they had hoped and they don't want Joe public to know this for fear of them overlooking it come release day?.

Sorry if I sounded a bit cynical there!.

If they skip open beta, then that is when you know never to go anywhere near this thing. ^^

theres plenty of people in it.
the whole zipper team is in it last time i checked theve got more than 30 people creating mag.
not to mention sonys inside people, for all we know inside devs like GG and insomniac could be playing it.
there not releasing it out to the public because there childish idiots.
if they did and there was allot of bugs they would leap on the net and complain and say the game sucks and slander it.
giving it bad publicity and people wont buy it.
come on guys its commonsense they will release the beta once most of the bugs have been eliminated.

Most of the bugs get eliminated with the Alpha-Build, and then from there it goes into Closed Beta, in which the public then mop up the rest of the bugs, then it goes into Open Beta, with those few hard to find bugs.. and then its Released.
That is common sense.

And when i said more then 30+, I mean the Bug Testing/QA Team. Those teams are one of the smallest teams you have within a game development studio, That is more common sense.

This is a flawed tactic by Sony, That is common sense.

The public very, very rarely get access to closed beta's. Even the closed betas that the select few get access to have often been play tested and checked. You want people that know what they're doing and have the ability to report issues clearly and accurately. You don't want to be overloaded with stupid, pointless requests. That's more common sense.
