If so, I haven't the time to paint cars, so I'll stick to the normal version.
And how will the 2 discs work? Huzzah! :) I'll stick with GT5, thanks. :shock: /sarcasm I suspect the 2 disks will involve Arcade and Career modes (much like GT2 on the PS1). I've absolutely no idea what the memory stick is used for, it could be for decals and garages (be nice if it was), but I suspect it's just a standard USB stick for general use....with a Forza logo, no doubt.
All in all - at £48, it's not a bad deal. I've considered the CE purely for the fact that you get preferential treatment in the auction houses (how this works, I'm again not sure). I mean, the regular edition is probably £40 anyway....I suspect Forza 3 will be a game that I'll put a fair bit of time into, so the extras will be welcome.

Only one I've seen is GAME which is giving away an M5 (or M3, can't remember) with it... Same here, the first 2 in the series were great but Forza 3 looks amazing...the best console racer just got better! :D »

I wonder what kind of new design options we'll get this time round? - that part of the last game was particularly well recieved, so I expect they'll make some nice additions to it.

:) One of the funniest things I've ever seen online was when myself and Mortey played Forza 2.
We'd just been to the auction house and he'd bought an Enzo and I'd bought a McClaren....so, we're on the starting grid and all I can hear is him going on about how beautiful his car is, how great it sounds....next thing you know, we're off - within seconds, he's flagging behind.
Needless to say, he was gutted.
:D The 2 disks have been explained already. Disk 2 installs a load of tracks and cars to your HD. You play the game off the other one.
If you haven't got space, you can still play the game OK, it just uses less tracks and cars. It's like having a years worth of DLC given to you free, up front, on a disk! One word.
YUMMY I never really got into playing Forza online and the auction house etc. - only ever fought through the career. Might have to chase you guys up for a race when this comes out. »
Forza 2 is great online...I don't think I've ever seen any slowdown whatsoever.
The auctions are really handy too - you can pick up some utter bargains and you get to see some of the great decals that some people have come up with (some of them are nothing short of amazing). I got to a point where I didn't bother buying cars in-game, the auction house was just too good.
No doubt we'll both be about once this is released (I'll probably need to do a fair bit of the career mode first though!).

No way! - you have to remember that Mortey was rather disappointed when he discovered that you cannot turn around and do the track in reverse to take out your opponent head-on....now that's cheating!

oh goody a vauxhal corsa and loads of slow races races with crappy prize money till i can buy anything decent, yay, and if you upgrade it then you have to tune it or you dont have a hope in hell online and i can paint till my thumbs blister but no ones going to have any money at 1st and im not going to have my custom decals or carbon or anything and theres community painters out there who allready have access to the paint tools so theres going to be top notch stuff floating around from day1 :roll:

Che, the Forza community manager, has also said that the UK release will be the Friday BEFORE the US get it, in this case I think its the 23rd.
Both GT5 and Forza 3 will be epic and Ill be getting both, no doubt about it. In fact Im gonna pre-order this weekend. Edit: On a more serious note, I cant understand why people dont see the games for what they are. They are both epically awesome games but offer something slightly different, they both give you the thrills of driving. Forza 3 will offer the new modes, the AH, the customization options and great online play and also the great graphics. Whereas, GT5 will offer the even better graphics (not slating F3), the night and day, the weather and the rallying, whilst offering a slgihtly longer career mode.
People always have to start fanboy wars when really theyre both epic, both have their advantages and both will do brilliant. Most of the fanboys though are people who have never played the other game, or dont have the money to buy a 360 or PS3 to experience both. »
I'm obviously not down with the kids....err...init... :? Rampant fanboyism (surely that's a word, now) is a defense mechanism. It tends to come from the people who feel that the opposition is in fact a threat (not a much poorer product, as some would have you believe) and feel the desperate need to cling on to any tiny amount of leverage to make themselves feel better - often starting arguments if they can. I'll be picking up both of these bad boys. Been a real lack of decent racing games for a while. Wasn't a fan of PGR or GRID at all. Forza 2 was brilliant though. The Prologue is a little limited for my tastes and does feel a bit dated with the lack of damage model etc. The finished game will be a huge improvement though.
The career mode in GT has always been good but hasn't really changed since GT1 - which is a shame. I used to enjoy buying the old bangers and racing them into tip top condition. Especially the old shape Skylines and Datsuns.

Please, do yourself a favour - read a book...the Roger Red-Hat series might be a good place for you to start.

You have a PS and will enjoy Gran Tourismo, and the rest of us have 360s and will have fun with Forza 3. You say so much about yourself and your thoughts on the Playstation by making bitter comments. And in case you didn't realise, not everyone cares to poodle around the Top Gear 'track'. It's short and it's just part of an old airfield, how long do you think it'll keep you amused... a dozen laps? Maybe 100... either way, be happy, and save the immature comments for an argument that has some merit!
Back to Forza... I'm probably one of a few that's quite happy about the release date of this... Forza is gaining ground but I reckon Gran Tourism is still a lap ahead. Weather conditions to alter state of play, better eye melting graphics and bigger scale of presentation (oh those lovely pit crews and flags), Rally modes, Nascar and I'd bet there'll be more than 400 cars (double that or even triple it) and then theres that Gran Tourismo road physics with changes made to the barrier and car damage, and not to forget the infamous soundtrack that comes with every game, I think it has enough to warrent a purchase of PS3 alone. The Top Gear track is a nice idea, and given the option I would rather have it than not. But it's hardly a deal-breaker for me. The Top Gear track is actually not that impressive, it's really only a figure of eight. To be honest, as I said earlier I will have both, but Le Sarthe Le Mans track is much more appealing to me than the TG Test Track.

Personally there is no one game that would entice me to buy a whole gaming platform just to play that one game. It would have to appeal with multiple games, pricing, capabilities vs. wants & needs, etc. To buy a 300 pound console for a single game seems semi-idiotic to me, but hey, let people spend their money as they choose on legal goods. I think that a game which GT5 promises to be will indeed sell £300 machines alone but this will open the door for users to the likes of Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Pacific rift, Valk Chronic, Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet etc
I bought a new SNES on release just to play Super Mario World which lead to Dar Fox, F Zero etc and I bought a new Mega Drive to play Thunder Force 3 which lead to Sonic and Streets of Rage 2 etc.
Anyhow, I bet a price drop on PS3 is imminent and its the only reason MS has lead the way so far (that, and the massive launch day gap). Things should really get interesting when the PS3 is completing on price with Xbox 360. Whereas an individual such as myself would not be enticed to buy any console for just one game, no matter how tempting the game might be. The deal would have to be sweetened by a perceived good price, other games, etc. as previously stated.
It will be interesting to see what Sony has up its sleeve in regards to the PS3 slim. I think Sony has to come much closer to meeting the pricing of the Xbox 360 and/or the Wii in order to have any serious chance of mounting a credible challenge to the leads enjoyed by its two competitors (and yes, Nintendo is a competitor whether Sony or MS like to admit it). However, if Sony's past behaviour is any indication as to what we can expect price wise for the new PS3 slim, then it'll likely end up being just as expensive upon launch. Perhaps the PS3 slim will keep the current PS3 chubby price, while the PS3 chubby's price will be lowered? Guess we'll find out later on in the year. imo, using price against the PS3 is old, at least here in the US. currently the system's going for $400. the original asking price of the 360, which at the time had an extremely limited catalog, was exactly the same. most current 360 owners with enough knowledge to so ardently prefer the system have probably had it since it launched, meaning they had no problem forking over the money then, even when it offered nothing but superior graphics over the PS2, which had an infinitely better games catalog. it's really no different now with the PS3; you'll be getting a system with its own unique features, and its own set of exclusive content that rivals (and according to some opinions, exceeds) the competition.
saying you won't buy a PS3 just for one game is not a matter of price, it's one of preference, becuase the system is every bit worth it's asking price even in the face of a cheaper competitor. the reason being - it actually has plenty of exclusive games that are good. either you don't like those games (in which case price, even if the system were $200, becomes largely irrelevant), or you do like those games, in which case it's much more worth its price than the 360 was four years ago. LOL GT5? When is that coming out? We continue to disagree. For the record I bought my Xbox 360 at the beginning of June this year. I was keen on avoiding the horrific RRoD stories which the Jasper chipset seems to have helped ease off to some extent. I stand by my statement that for me none of the consoles would be worth buying just to be able to play one particular game. It is an exceedingly wasteful way to spend limited resources when a bit of planning and looking ahead can reap far greater benefits with a similar expenditure of resources.
The price argument will continue to be relevant as long as it's: 1) perceived to be too expensive compared to the perceived value it brings to the table by the mass market, and 2) it's competition is able to deliver comparable performance in key areas - which in this case would be gaming - for a much lower price. No matter how much Sony, SDF fanboys, you or others bang on about the good value of the PS3 the irrefutable fact remains that it is trailing in sales by millions for a number of reasons, one of which is the price point. |
