Mortal Kombat Studio now WB Games Chicago?

Warner appears to have rebranded Midway's MK studio
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment appears to have rebranded Midway's Mortal Kombat development team as WB Games Chicago.

Warner Bros. recently acquired the majority of Midway's US assets in a deal worth around $49 million. Included in the transaction was the Mortal Kombat franchise, and Warner reportedly took on 100 staff from series developer Midway Chicago.

As spotted here, recently updated LinkedIn business networking profiles from a number of employees suggest that Midway Chicago has now been renamed.

Warner Bros. recruiter Connie Gabelein notes that the WB Games family of studios "includes Monolith Productions, Surreal Software, Snowblind Studios and WB Games Chicago," while former Midway CTO Michael Weilbacher names himself as "head of a game studio in Chicago at WB Games Inc."

Warner Bros. has yet to make any official announcements concerning the rebranding of former Midway assets, but we've requested comment from the publisher.

Great to hear the Midway MK studio has been saved so I can look forward to the next installment...I just hope Boon and Tobias are included in the reshuffle.

They'd be bloody fools not to include Boon.

Agreed, but I seem to remember reading a while back that Ed Boon was thinking of pursuing other projects, and as I haven't seen anything stating that he will stay with the franchise I'm not sure of his involvement from now on...the guy's a quality programmer so let's hope he remains a creative input.

Don't suppose they could add the classic games to VC, XBLA and PSN just incase the new ones turn out crap?

Isn't Tobias the artist who'd had nothing to do with MK since UMK3, but came back to draw the MK VS DCU mini-comic? So they don't need him, per se, but Boon is a must.

But should they just do a "new" MK, or MK VS DCU 2? Bring back Johnny Cage!

wish in a way theyd just stop it with the mortal kombat allready, i allways find them to be embarressing disapointments ever since they went 3d
must be some fans still out there who havnt given up on the hope of a good 1 , but for me there hasnt been a good 1 in 12 years or whatever it is
and im not hate bashing i want them to make a good one this time, ive just had that hope dashed too many times
