Wii Sports Resort beats down Harry Potter

Wii MotionPlus-powered sports tops UK charts
Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort has barged its way straight to the top the UK software sales charts for the week ended July 25, ahead of Harry Potter's latest.

Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince has had to settle for second as Nintendo's first MotionPlus game recorded the fourth biggest launch week for a Wii game, behind only Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Mario & Sonic At The Olympics.

You could have easily predicted this. The game is great fun. Can't wait to see what other people do with the M+ controls now. This is just a taster of what's to come. Reminds me, I have got to pick up Tiger Woods this week. :)

Tiger 10 is absolute genius on the Wii. Got it last week and as soon as I put it on i was addicted and soon lost 8 or so hours to it.

totally agree Tiger 10 on the wii is pure genius. Best golf sim ever.

Wii sports resort, gets me excited for what the next zelda is going to be like and makes me even more pissed that red steel 2 has been delayed.

Is there an online component with Wii Resort? If so, I might resort to buying it. Ho ho.

Wii Sports severely lacked any leaderboards and such.

Most devs can't seem to make decent controls with the Wii remote was it is. It'll be interesting if they can with WMP. I have to say Red Steel 2 does look good though and from what I've read about Tiger Woods 10, EA seemed to have started off well. We'll have to see...

We had a party at the house yesterday and Wii Sports Resort is the killer App again for the Wii.

The Wii was not turned off all yesterday and was still being played at 12:35 this morning (bear and all).

I agree completely with the comments so far; the archery and swordplay will be fantastic in a new Zelda, however look at the other ways it could be utilised:

Canoeing - Link paddling down a river/across a lake.
Fishing: How will it work with a fishing game?
Epona: Pulling the reins like the Jet Ski?
Plane: Link riding an Owl?
Bike: The controls used for Link in a running race with the Gorons..heheh!

I have read that Miyamoto has more plans for Wuhu Island. He talked recently of setting more games on the island, mentioning adventure games, role-playing games and city-building simulation games...

I can't wait I love the island.

Good news, the new harry potter game sounds crap.
Whereas Resort is amazing fun!

This is the first game I have wanted to buy on the Wii in AGES but I still refuse to buy it. It is Nintento robbery at its worst. This game must have cost peanuts to make being the same graphics and engine as Wii Sports and they could EASILY have made this online compatible but no they want to rope us into buying a Motion Plus game so that we HAVE to buy another one to play a 2 player game on. The fact of the matter is I refuse to pay 72 for a extra Wiimote, nunchuck and Motion plus. I'm really really annoyed with Nintendo right now but no doubt I will eventually buy it, but it'll be grudgingly...
