I still remember playing the first one, for the first time, as the alien.
You started in some of the best looking water ever. I spent at least 10 minutes just playing around in it...
Very excited about this... OMG - This looks awesome, they have all the correct sound efects and everything, could this be the perfect AVP game?
Offically excited about this, colonial marines has some big competition That looks awesome!
If its as good as the old PC games than we're in for a treat :) Yes. I too am officially excited. It actually looks really good. Please be great! Don't. ****. It. Up. Holy, sweet mother of...That looks fantastic! Lemme at it! :D It's Sega... what can go wrong ? Now there's a loaded question if I ever saw one! Ok, I don't get this. So next year we have Alien vs Predator, and Aliens: Colonial Marines? Aren't they likely to compete against each other potentially one taking sales away from the other? While I'm desperate to play an Aliens game, this one featuring crap Predators doesn't interest me half as much as the Colonial Marines game. It seems like a really odd decision to bring out the two games so close to one another. Isn't this as logical as Call of Duty 5: WAW and Call of Duty 6: MW2 coming out almost at the same time (although I'd like to have seen that as I believe one would have barely sold!). I'm guessing you've not played the first 2 avp's? If this goes to plan, it could be game of the year next year. lol I did the exact same thing, gotta love that water. One thing I loved about the first game was that you could get half way through a level before you see an enemy or they could all attack at once in the first area. Really loved the randomness, I think there was a set number of enemies per level but attacking was random. Hope this lives up to that game and going by the trailer, it will ;) Wow this actually looks pretty damn immersive. I was thinking that right from the start but when you see the Alien and Predator both pick you up like they did that is fantastic.
That said it looks like if you join the Corp your ****ed either way! I'm with most of you. Loved the first 2 games and love the way all the original sounds and effects we associate with the movies are present in the game itself makes such a difference, game looks like its taking a few leaps from the first 2 games, you could say it looks like it isn't " Game over man.. Game over "
Ps i apologize for the quote lol I wish they'd hand the movie rights to Rebellion! I think it would be a throwback to the classic Aliens style with Predators and not the BS Anderson and Strause have thrown us. Sgt. Apone: "All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!" :D
http://cinema.videosift.com/video/Aliens-Movie-Apone-says-Another-glorious-day-in-the-Corps No apologies necessary, my good man. That one's a classic! This looks sweet! Hope it's as good as the original. Let's hope Rebellion don't mess up at this stage of development, because at this rate, I might consider putting a pre-order on AVP. Haha hoo-rah! It is pretty damn awesome to be honest. Marines definately seem to be the most hardcore guys even when up shit creek without a paddle haha. It looks like it oould kick as much ass as it deserves. Here's my wishlist:
It has the being thrown in the deep end element of AvP where you always felt overwhelmed by what was in front of you
AvP2 was a step in the right direction but the new one needs a GREAT plot full of twist and intruige with mysterious and surprisingly powerful parties all manipulating circumstance to pursue their own dark agendas (the books and comics are pretty good inspiration as is the Halflife series)
There is a huge outdoor scene with an undefeatable horde of aliens streaming towards you across a massive landscape with huge draw distance and an 'elephant man' comes and slays them with some awesome weaponry you really want but never get.
Lastly: to nearly strangle myself to death with headphone cables and ruin a power supply with split fanta (falling off my chair) as the facehugger I had been stalking in a paranoid fervour leaps out of a totally unexpected corner and lovingly grips my face.... again.
Yay! »
Hehehe! Well, it was certainly fun, interesting and comforting hanging out with a crowd of US Marines at various nightclubs in East Africa as a teenager (well, if you were friends with some of them). Still, no one is invincible even though the US Marine Corps ethos drills precisely that mentality in to them. They are tough and they are certainly proficient fighters. I had a professor once who was a Captain for the US Army's intelligence branch in Vietnam and it was/is apparently accepted that on average the US Marines have the least intelligent recruits while having the most intelligent officers of the US Armed Forces. It's said that's how they are able to get the Marines do some of the things they do! I have respect and admiration for those that serve honourably of any military branch.
Now the Royal Marines are a different sort altogether...18 months of training grants them the accolade of having the longest straight running training period of any armed outfit in the world from what I've read. They are however not just shock infantry like the US Marines, but rather outright commandos/special forces. The US Marine Recon forces would be the Marine Corps' special forces branch.
Personally I served in the Royal Guard regiment of my native country. We were/are considered "the best" of the regular forces though much of the basic training is the same for all the Army regiments where I come from. Our motivation however was usually much higher and the precision drills far more intricate and taxing. As the NCOs used to say, "Do it right the first time". :) OH MY GOD! I have just pi**ed my pants! Awesome. this game looks stonking, hope you can still nail marines to walls with the spear gun.
One of my favourite past times on AVP was sneaking around picking off marines. gimme gimme gimme!!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!! wow, this looks like one game ill be looking forward to playing. |
