It looks pretty good just a shame this is actually the first I have ever heard about this game... The game loses all credibility as soon as they decided to use nightwish for the trailer. Bravo CVG.
ahem
This s**t role playing game is set in a medieval world on a f******g Mediterranean island. The Risen story unfolds over four chapters and will offer multiple ways to develop the story by his own actions and decisions. An albertross and camel sized magical doodad will support both casual and hardcore gamers. With full world streaming support, the player will have a f*****g heart attack while playing in a bath tub full of crushed ice and jellyfish with spongebob characters." There's nothing about this game, a couple screenshots and some short videos. I discovered it by accident and still haven't seen a preview or hands on or anything. The fact that it is so close to release means it'll probably be a quiet failure.
I think this is the first I've heard of "Risen". I do enjoy a good RPG, so this looks promising albeit it's not the best looking RPG I've come across (the locations look beautiful, IMO). Despite the lack of public awareness regarding this game it may not be a stinker, though it'll hardly help its sales if people don't know about it.
Regarding Gothic 3, I was close to purchasing it but the repeated user comments of game breaking bugs and flaws put me off. Let's hope they do better this time. It's good but it's not quite right. Patched up fully it's quite playable. You'd need a good comp though, my old machine took one look at it and almost died. Plus I think there is a user made patch that addresses a ton of other bugs. Thanks for the heads-up. After Google'ing "Gothic 3 requirements" it would appear my PC won't even break a sweat running it. Gothic 3: Apply the fanbased patch correctly and you'll get an 'enhanced edition', which corrects a ton of bugs by using the official patches and fan made stuff, adds in better graphics, a higher view distance, combat and A.I tweaks and a whole raft of other stuff. Improves the original game without a doubt. You can tweak the graphics engine to get a ridiculous draw distance, which will certainly test your system. The vistas then become jaw -dropping. The only trouble is the game suffers from stutter as it loads the environment from hard drive. A solid state disc should sort that out.
Risen looks interesting, btw. |
