He does gush a bit, but fair play he does state that they spent a lot of time indentifying what was wrong with the first game (everything), and what they hope to change in order to make the second game more fun (again, everything).
Lets be honest, it'll probably be quite cack, but since Spiderman 2 on the xbox I'm still living with a sliver of hope that one day another decent superhero tie-in will be released... Same. Grab a PS3 and get Infamous. Its a superb addition to the superhero genre. With great tactics involved when fighting various enemies (verticaly prefered that horizonal for that the advantage) and great graphics, controls, story and presentation, you'll not be sorry.
I also hear Asda are selling PS3s under £200 but I haven't varified this, anyway I got infamous and thought its definately the best in the genre since Spidy 2. I did get infamous and thrashed the bejesus out of it. Twas a very good game, you're correct.
Its just a shame that the same amount of love and care isn't poured into an established comic book franchise, basically anything from Marvel, DC or Image. I'll admit that there have been quite a few decent comic book games over the past 15 odd years, but for every game thats average to decent, there seem to be a vast plethora of others that are complete garbage.
I have hideous memories of various x-men games on the snes that were terrible, although spiderman on the megadrive was quite good if memory serves correctly. Maximum Carnage was alright as well. I bought Spiderman 3 without reading a review thinking with a similar team at the helm (Treyarch I think) it would be on par with 2, how wrong I was. Still, theres always Ultimate Alliance 2 to look forward which is looking pretty sweet. ...and Arkham Asylum, of course.
I honestly can't see why these things don't pan out more often. The superhero genre is pretty much perfect for games, but it seems that they only allow the licenses to the highest bidder (typically the Activisions and EAs) - this generally means that the cynical publishers decide that they can get away with releasing shovelware, believing that the license will sell on its own.
It's a shame, but there have been some good one over the years - no-one has mentioned City of Heroes so far....if you're a comic fan, you have to at least trial it - great fun with a community that really doesn't take itself too seriously.
:) I thought the last Wolverine game was good. Nothing new but it was solid and entertaining. CVG sort your videos out! Of all the sites I visit, only yours completely crashes safari and play really badly in Firefox too... oh well. As the subject really, I too really enjoyed spider man 2 and had decided to get spiderman 3 and thought it licked donkey balls, However Spiderman Web of Shadows, follows more of a comic story line which can be good or bad, but anyway, The combat has been made alright nice over the topness and good crowd control skills,
The web swinging is really good too, its not clunky and its just fun once again to swing around, There is a bit of slow down later in the game but seeing past that its a rather enjoyable game, give it a rent or buy it on the cheap and see for yourself |
