Konami signs the Jackson 5

Better late than never
Konami has scored some Jackson 5 tunes from Universal Music Enterprises to be featured in Karaoke Revolution for Wii, 360 and PS3.

According to Konami you'll be able to "sing to original music of Jackson 5 classics including the number one hits I'll Be There, and ABC."

The content will be featured on the final disc at launch along Jackson 5 themes and photos. Konami's banking on the fact that this'll be the first karaoke game to feature licensed music of the Jackson 5 across "all next-generation gaming consoles". We think they mean current-gen machines.

"The music of the Jackson 5 is timeless," said Careen Yapp, VP of licensing and business development. "We are thrilled to partner with UMe and EMI to pay homage to the American institution known as the Jackson 5 in Karaoke Revolution. The Jackson 5 was the first group to have four consecutive number one singles, and to have those iconic hits like 'I'll Be There' or 'I Want You Back' will give fans both old and new a chance to experience their music in a way they have never before."

Why try to compete with the established brand of Singstar?

Oh dear Konami. You won't compete with what is on the market now.

Well, better late than never eh?

I'm just going to make this clear right now, ANY Jackson 5 song with a child Michael Jackson is impossible to sing unless you have inadvertantly swallowed a dog whistle.

Seriously, those songs are so HIGH in terms of pitch. Even women have trouble getting that high.

It's just not fun.

Actually most (all?) of these games don't seem to care which octave you're singing in. You could be a baritone MJ and still get 5 stars :)

What an insult to the Jackson 5 to let Konami have this (though someone in that camp thought it was a good idea).

Konami: the kings of unoriginality and total shitness

Surely it should be the Jackson 4 now.

Any game about anything to do with MJ will sell now, so hey its another cash cow to be milked.

Anyone else whenever they think of "ABC" just thinks about Clerks 2? Jay and Silent bob in Pigtails hehe

yes, most awesome dance scene in a movie since ray charles singing twist it in the blues brothers. Which i think it was trying to parody.

PORCH MONKEY 4 LIFE!

Well , i think this is one of those songs that you have three options, sing it originally (super high), sing it one key lower (still really too high for most men) or sing it lower still (which is then Johnny Cash style low).

Bas*tard hard!

It was good, but Stephen Chow's Kung-Fu Hustle or Shaolin Soccer have it beat in my opinion, based on pure random out of place madness alone!

In singing games you can use what ever pitch you like but you just have to hit the right note, so a woman can be singing high and a and a man lower if they are hitting the right notes hey will be scoring points.
