PES 2010: New Master League details

Expanded managerial mode revealed. Screens inside
Konami has revealed new details on its expanded managerial mode for PES 2010. Here's the word, straight from Konami:

On selecting the Master League option, players are now presented with a menu split into three areas: 'Club House', 'Stadium Walk', and 'Office'. Each of these is an umbrella for different parts of a manager's role, with 'Club House' used for tactical and match day options, 'Stadium Walk' for main game settings, and 'Office' for scouting and player acquisition dealings.

The in-game menus are now much simpler to navigate, and players can jump between the three areas with ease. The Club House element has also seen the creation of an all-new Youth Team section, which works alongside the first team squad.

As the game progresses, the player can opt to invest in talented members of their youth team to fast-track their development. This burgeoning talent can then be introduced into the first team, as with so many real-life 'academies.'

The Office area is where all transfer and financial dealings take place. Real currency is now used in PES 2010, and additional monetary routes are also available. Sponsorships can now be negotiated, with player securing big money deals with companies that can be used to invest in the team and youth set-up. Results on field affect the direct value of the club to interested parties, and fan clubs are also used as a barometer of the club's success.

"The Club House element has also seen the creation of an all-new Youth Team section, which works alongside the first team squad."

I hope they allow the youth teams to have their own matches separately from the first team. Big plus if this is possible.

Nice idea with the Youth Team options - I like that...but, this is hardly the kind of stuff that will sway people from FIFA.

We need to get a chance to handle the gameplay - that was always PES' biggest plus point and the area that the series has been lacking in recent times.

Still, nice idea - pretty simple for EA to swipe though.

This is clearly 'influenced' by FIFA's manager mode, but thats no bad thing, especially if its an amalgamation of the two.

It seems Konami are coming good on there promise to completely redevelop the game, so far, now its just a matter of waiting for the demo to be released to see whether its gameplay system has been developed at all.

Sounds very good but...

WHY was all this not included years ago? It still amazes me how hollow and empty of content the PES games are. Just compare them to, say, a racing game.

What was quite silly with the Master League in the older versions is the lack of realism, as Alberto Gilardino in my save game developed into something akin to a modern day Maradona

Cool. I felt a flutter of excitement when I read that because the Master League needed a revamp. The fact that real money is now being used is great, as is the youth scheme.

I've personally always found the menus for PES simple and easy to use, not to mention quick. That is one area in which Fifa could improve as I still find it clunky and slow.

Both it is then.

I agree Rob. I think Konami are just trying to match FIFA this time round to stop hardcore PES fans migrating over.

I'm even more excited about it now!

I never even played the master league in PES '09, the Be a Legend mode kept me hooked!

Where this game really shines though, is when you get a sh*t load of mates round for some good old fashioned gaming. Love it.

Im still playing 09 be a legend and really enjoying it.

I like what they are trying to do with the ML this year, as I always played this.

It also has CL and europa cup integrated this year too !!

I think its more for PES fans than to try and win FIFA fans.

For me PES 09 still played better than FIFA 09.

for me the way pro evo hasnt progressed has been a disgrace. They havent had to make too many changes from the actual gameplay from 5 years ago yet amazingly they manage to make it progressively worse and this from an ardent fan on the ps2. The master league needs a huge overhaul, and while this has now been recognised i don't see it drawing me back quite yet.

Alot of the things are just plain sloppy, crowd animations, star players being too overpowered, a complete lack of atmosphere. Don't get me wrong its great in multiplayer (not online of course) but the lack of any real soul makes one player modes monotinous. They really do need to lift the bar substantually in this regard as playing in Master League became a chore.

No doubt at all that even though PES 2009 was barley changed, it was still better than Fifa to play. Fifa was way to slow, and players still don't feel the way they should. The annoying thing with PES is they haven't carried over the feel of top players and also rans from the PS2 days.

@ niggel66,,, you really dont have a clue about footy games do you ,, how can you say pes 09 plays better then fifa 09 !!!lol,,, every 1 knows fifa is better ,, even the hardcore pes fans ,, and i was 1 in the ps2 days when pes was actually good,, so you say fifa players dont move as they should?? lol,, what about pes 09 player movements,, stiff ,, robotic and dated ,,you can take the ball , with players such as messi ,, ronaldo etc ,, and turn in 90 degree angles past every player on the opposing team,, pes 09 is a joke ,, fifa on the other hand has fluid realistic player movements,, and plays a slow simulation style of footy ,, whereas pes plays a pathstic arcadestyle of footy ,, that no 1 wants !!! you are a muppet

FIFA SUCKS ASS

to the above comment, PES has always played better than fifa thats a fact. No matter how many licenses or good online play, or various features/options fifa has had, PES always was better with regards to gameplay.

Problem is with the master league in PES is that they always make it complicated, its never user friendly and easy to just pick up and play straight away. Sometimes things are happening and im not even sure what. Plus i wish they would just create english league, spanish league, italian league etc. for the master league instead of mixing teams up.

yeah in the ps2 days pes was always better ,, but not anymore ,, since the new generation ,, pes has gone backwards ,, while fifa has improved every year and has now overtaken pes ,,

THATS A FACT !!

and if u deny that your either in denial or ,, just know nothing about football games ,, pes 09 is a broken mess,,why do u think it has lost so many loyal fans to fifa ?? 8)

fifa sucks like an industrial hoover!! ball floats around like a balloon, by the time you pass to a striker he is off side as the animation takes so long, pes plays smoothly, but the bad thing about pes is the scripting!!

ha, industrial hoover!

agreed mark240473 4give if slightly wrong, although fifa has polish ie proper team names etc ,to me that means nothing compared to gameplay!i always had fifa yrs ago yet once pes came out ,it seemed to clunky,my worry is there trying to imitate each other to much which cant be gud 4 either game!!fifa u do all the right playes n teams pes give me the better gameplay plz phew

Seems konami are making these changes to keep their current audience happy and not draw the masses back to PES. Big problem with the budget i suppose, while EAs never ending pockets allow them to implement whichever changes they see fit, and PES just make tiny change after tiny change with the promise that next year will be better.

Having said all this though i'll still be getting PES lol
