Never mind the best batman game - it's pretty obvious there's no real competition there - this looks to be shaping up beautifully and could well be one of the best games out this year.
Glad the combats looking so fluid, i'd hate it to end up like the jerky mess of spiderman 2 (last superhero game I bought...). I'm still waiting to see how they fit the Joker as a playable character into it. I've just played it at an event in London and it's a certain purchase for me. The game is pretty brutal and the controls are easy to master.
The Joker is only playable in the Challenge modes, which are good fun in their own right. He's not as powerful as Batman though, which makes his challenges more difficult. Woo wee! This game looks like it's the real McCoy! The graphics and game mechanics look fantastic, and this is one of those rare games I imagine will handle better with a console game pad than the PC's keyboard & mouse. Based upon the commentary from the developers it sounds like they have hit the proverbial nail on the head in regards to what I at least have come to expect and desire from Batman. :) I can't think of any good reason NOT to pre-order this. It looks amazing. If you go to Eurogamer, they have a video of the Joker as a playable character.
It's no 're-skin' - he actually seems to have his own set of moves and animations. I'm certainly jealous of the PS3 owners in that respect.
