Killzone 2 will keep me occupied till then. And that means good news as im going to plan on playing my ps3 for a min of another 4 years. better if they drop the sci-fi element and back it up with a decent story.
space marine games, with their metallic grey worlds are depressing.
set it on earth and let the baddies be rebels or something. no need for red eyes.
other than that it is an impressive game. liked the animations and down the barrel view. and tough gameplay. Killzone 2 is a good shooter. It ticks all the boxes - decent storyline with a campaign to replay for trophies, a lot of good multiplayer modes, solid controls. No reason they'd want to hold off on that until the next PlayStation rolls out - which could still be 5 or 6 years away.
Not sure where else they could go for the sequel though, in terms of updating the engine. Soft body physics, maybe, like Unreal? More destructible environments would be nice, but that's more a multiplayer feature than anything.
I really like the multiplayer modes in KZ2 though. Having only just got it and finished the story, I'm still getting the hang of it, but the rotating game type is a good feature and keeps things interesting. Just need more unlocks! Feel free to add me on PSN :) w00t w00t! killzone 2. good storyline?! :? Killzone 2 is undeniably thbe best looking game for PS3 right now, but guerrilla really need to tidy up the script, as most of the time, I couldn't care less what was going on. very true.
i cant even remember anything about the story - and i was paying attention.
says it all. In terms of being a straight-up human vs aliens "kill everything" story, it does the job fine. It's not going to win any awards for originality or character development, but it works as-is :)
They justify why you're there and what you're going after. There's no twists or unexpected plot developments, but it doesn't crowbar stuff in for the sake of making the game longer. Yeah, KZ2 aimed right for the windbag of bringing a great straight laced shooter with tactics, graphics, sound, atmosphere and gameplay and it delivered one hell of a blow.
Lovely ending setting up for a trequel but I hope they add co-op, more vehicles (as diverse as those seen in the Halo series), some monsters maybe, and a few fresher ideas to call its own. @Starsail Please god no monsters, don't turn it into Resistance.
I hope that Guerrilla have learnt there lessons well from Killzone 2,and release a game that doesn't need patching so quickly(don't start :P ) I think all games on consoles that have a online multiplayer should start including a multiplayer map editor allowing user created maps to be downloadable and playable for all the peoples of PSN. The map editor in Farcry 2 was one of the few things that game did right in multiplayer. A little bit more friendly to use with a pad and it could be rolled out in almost any game.
The problem you'd have with that system would be just too many maps, a lot of which would be utterly crap. Anyone who's fought through Counter-Strike will testify that player-made maps are rarely up to the standard of the developer ones. You get the odd gem, but most of it is crap. At least with the FC2 system there's no downloads cluttering the place up.
You can argue in favour of a rating system, but then all the snipers vote for one where they have loads of cover while the frontline infantry vote it down. You get this nasty mess of votes cancelling each other out. It can work, but it needs some tight guidelines. de_rats ftw! any truely decent map will come to the attention of the fans. I would love to see where KZ3 will lead the Helghast. The bit at the end deserves a sequel! And please for god's sake make the next one co-op campaign mode. Co-op and multiplayer's one of the top features that keeps me and mates playing games nowadays. i agree with SVD_GRASSHOPPER. maybe make it a bit more colourful. and please more weapons in online matches. Killzone 2 looked and played great on Ps3. I can't see any reason to not release another sequel on Ps3 hardware. As for the Dlc, I would welcome some single player content instead of just multiplayer. I think the story for Resistance is brilliant. They messed it up in R2 by telling it as Intel rather than narrating it.
The map editor is a good idea but it will never happen, no money in it. If they were to develop the next in the series then, as the game engine has been built, it wont take as long this time. I think the first game took so long as this was more or less built from scratch.
This would give them more time to impliment co-op for a trequel among with other ideas and in reference to lawless1891, yeah, probably worth leaving monsters out but I'd like to see the game introduce a newer enemy of some sort, to expand on tactics and story, maybe.
But anyway, the next game shouldnt be too far off, even if they started while having breakfast today. That's PS4 confirmed then Good. If you're going to redeem yourself after a major feck up, better do it the very same generation. Dinalfos I smell a FANBOY
Feeling abit bitter cause you ain't got Killzone? tut tut |
