OK, so as a whole it wasn't a classic, but if every driving game drove like Wheelman, I'd be a happy bunny. Best of luck guys! I think devs need to pay attention to what's happening right now with regards to closures.
Bad games mean no sales. No sales means no money. No money means no jobs. No jobs means no more games.
How can you fail so utterly? Market research is there for a reason. Don't release a new and unremarkable product into a market saturated with good titles. Don't try to do everything, do one thing really well. Test your f*cking games before you release them - if you're not finding it fun, neither will anyone else. Not everyone is Valve or Blizzard who sit on mountains of gold and can test their games for years to ensure there perfect.
Midway Newcastle wasn't the problem here, it was Midway itself. One of the worst most mismanaged publishers in modern times.
It's not the guys at Newcastle who are at fault that they were given some crappy license game to work on with probably not enough time or resources.
I hope they all do well as I know what it's like to be made redundant, not a pleasant feeling at all! Guys we can still save this studio! Just put some money together and enter it in as an investment. Plus the game would surely turn out to be a good one because they would be owned by gamers not suits.
If nothing happens this is a loss. That new IP sure did look exciting and I would love to own the rights to that... wheelman sucked! The Wheelman wasn't bad and Neccesary Force looked like a unique free roaming experience. Its a shame that they're gone. |
