LucasArts teases "old school" reveal today

Publisher Twitter-teases new announcement
LucasArts has promised an "amazing" announcement of the "old school" variety, due to go down today.

Speaking via Twitter, the new official source for teasing game announcements, the company said: "Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!"

It later added, "It is awesome news for our old school fans," and apparently someone's already guessed "dead on" what it is.

As always we'll set our expectations high (Grim Fandango 2 please) and probably be disappointed when LucasArts announces Star Wars: Obi-Wan 2 later this afternoon. Keep 'em peeled.

DotT on XBLA?

Please be Grim Fandango!!! and if it is please don't just keep it for the xbox.

Probably an HD version of the original Grim Fandango on XBL. Still, it is a reason to be excited, if that is the case, as it was a brilliant adventure game. I actually prefered it to the Monkey Island games.

I'm not sure that developers have the creative wit to make a sequel to those classics anymore.

It'll be revealed in a few hours, but they do specifically say "it's NOT related to a specific franchise".

This can only mean re-releases of their old games. At last.

Grim Fandango. The best game ever made?

I think GF2 is aiming a bit too high, but even GF on XBLA would be incredible.

If the sales of these games are good enough, you would hope to god that they would do a fully fledged sequel!

Full Throttle on XBLA, that game was brilliant imo.
Failing that, the original sam and max or the old indy games.

Grim Fandango 2 plz! More Manny! Not made by Tell Tale ftmfw

I will give my left nut if it is Grim Fandango 2. I will be taking George Lucas's right nut if it is a shoddy star wars racer.

Bring back Manny... or a TIE Fighter sequel... or DoTT!

actually ... 'someone guessed "dead on" what it was'. Is that a nod to Grim Fandango?

With any luck they will announce a bunch of old point n click adventures games coming to xbla, WiiWare, PSN etc with the full update treatment. Be great to play Dott, Sam & max, full throttle etc. Also announce some new sequels for them and I'll be bouncing off the walls :)

Didn't pick up on that. Good observation. Hope you're right!

Yea I spotted that (and think CVG did too) and hence the GF suggestion. GF2 would be incredible if it was LucasArts internally but like I said I think that is wishful thinking.

any update.. it is 5pm after all :)

I will be content with any (or all) of the following:

Day of the Tentacle
Grim Fandango
Monkey Island
More Indy point-and-click (a la Fate of Atlantis)
Full Throttle
X-wing
Tie Fighter
X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter

Sequels, reissues, reduxes, uber-boxsets, whatever: it'll make my day.

Hmm, 6:30 and still no news. What gives?
