I'll take that guitar! - it actually resembles one of mine a little.
I must admit, for someone that really wasn't too enthusiastic about the Avatars in the first place, they've kinda grown on me a bit....sure, they don't do an awful lot and I hardly ever edit mine, but they're OK - any additions are welcome.
Looking forward to actually using them in 1 vs. 100!
:) ok i have to admit it....but i cant stand the 360 dashboard now.....i miss the old one...all them wallpapers i bought in the past are utter shite now aswell! :( I have nothing against the avatars, but I feel MS should have at least given the player a choice. Do we have to wait until the Spring 2010 to get these. Every dash update seems to take 1 season late. Well Done MS. Now go develop Windows 8 so you can beat Google Chrome OS (Or you could easily buy Google)....MS buying Google would be AWSUM!!!!!! Same for me. Can't wait for Games on Demand also. No, noo NOOOO! It would not be AWSUM!!!!! or awesome even, it would be a complete disaster, they make a good enough job of screwing up their own OS so why would you want them to have the chance to screw up a whole host of fantastic (free) products, which they would only start charging for? Google OS is aimed at Netbooks, it will not replace windows, I hugely doubt anything ever will. Every major company using Windows and for them to move would be too costly and quite frankly at the moment Google cannot rival 1/6th of what MS offer. Let alone play games.
Google are also very evil. »
The Google OS will initially be targeted at netbooks, but I wasn't so much worried about MS buying Google to avoid the OS war I'm more worried about them destroying the search engine, maps, groups, docs, webmaster tools, etc etc etc, and then charging for them, or adding them only as part of Windows 8 or something. Im not saying Google are angels, but their products are sound. Unlike windows OS, who havent released a good OS since 98 IMO (2000 was good, but was really NT). People have on the whole completely avoided, where possible, Vista and now I hear MS are already talking about Windows 8, how about delivering Windows 7 in a usable state, and then in the future you can look at developing your next OS and stealing some more idea's from Linux and OSX, and who-ever else takes your fancy. No - this would be the beginning of the end.
C. They'd delete the Google Search engine and leave us with ....Windows Live.....Ewwwww »
Don't you mean Bing? I find it to be a pretty sound search engine, and I liek the fact that videos play on the results page! »»
As has been pointed out on many other websites Google have the brilliant position of not having to support any legacy systems. If MS could get rid of support for all versions I think they would take it in a shot and then they could also release a smaller faster product.
Windows XP was a great OS, Vista is fine now it has been patched (I'm using it now!) it just works.
I bought an HP netbook with SUSE linux installed. It coudln't even find my wireless network due to the driver for the wireless card!!!!
Installed XP, it found it straight away and works fine. I'm sure I could have got it working in Linux, after a lot of fiddiling, but I just couldn't be arsed!
As you say though some of Google's apps are brilliant, Google Earth being my fav.
Also won't the EU be looking at Google now they bundlling a browser....although thats a whole other case.
MS may not be the greatest but they are not as bad as they are made out to be. »»
I forgot about BING, oh well maybe that's the point. XP was mediocre at best. It's more recent popularity has been due to them fixing some of the original, and massive, flaws, and the fact that no one wants to go near Vista. Personally Snow Leopard all the way if I had a choice! XP was fine after SP2 came out. And anyone who buys an early version of an OS deserves all they get. Even a massive beta test can't iron out the number of bugs that'd be thrown up when 95% of the world's computers are running it.
I have nothing against MS, but it would be nice to see them relinquish that market share. With Google being very friendly for the most part, keeping fairly transparent and open source and actually listening to what the people want, I'd like to see them join the fight. So long as they stop the occasional freezing issue in the dash I'll be reasonably happy.
Although one thing that would quite useful is to have a quicker way to access 'Online status' and 'Voice volume'. It's quite annoying having to go into the blades guide and then preferences then into the appropriate sub-menu 'online' or 'voice' to change these functions. Particularly 'Voice volume' as I don't play with a mic unless with friends and always want to turn down the voices if playing on my todd. Problem is then I have to keep going into the menu to turn it up or down as friends leave or come on etc. I'd like some pad shortcuts like if you hold down one button and then push another one it accesses a certain useful function instantly.
Just a thought, maybe I'm actually the only one who finds this annoying haha. Great. So we still have to have a bloody avatar when the thing ALL of my mates want is the choice to either just choose not to or, preferably, beat them to a bloody pulp with whatever we like when Natal arrives.
Seriously are we over tens meant to get excited about pretend guitars for our cheesy little Mii rip offs? The fact I have to see mine actually stops me from turning the 360 on and , now, buying multiplats for it-I'll take the pain for a well made exclusive(say Gears or Fable)but for anything less the annoyance of being confronted by those efforts is way too much. Why can't you turn em off? Why? |
