Sounds good, but I'll wait and see how it holds up a year after release. This really never came as any surprise, it was the next logical step for them.
I'll wait to see what is actually in it and how it runs, Ubunutu for me is the best linux around at the moment, and that took a long time to get to the point where I would be willing to switch from Windows. there's something about Google which worries me. I can't quite put it into words. it might be their insatiable appetite to control the whole IT world. I don't think i'm entirely comfortable with putting all of my media and files into 'the cloud'. Plus i'd be uploading files 24/7! GOD WILLING this is the end for Microsoft
I will back GOOGLE I swear it
"bing" is completely laughable and derserves to burn in hell, you can't fight google you evil bast
eh he Awesome news. Should concentrate M$'s mind. ignorant idiot what made you fall in love with M$ then
f*cking 10x worse
completely senseless like most of those in that Island you are a complete moron. who said i backed Microsoft? I've got a mac you tit, and a pc running mandriva. why don't you run along now and stick your ps3 up your arse. »
 Google would be as controlling as MS if they could (and quite possibly will be). In some ways they could be worse as they control more of the content we get online.
What on earth did MS do to suiv to make him hate them so?? The power or Linux, with the user experience focus of Google... minus the snark and snoot of Apple.
I'm genuinely excited. Bring it on Google. I'm anxious to see what you can deliver. »
you're going to hell buddy
you can't hide from me: I've seen you display shameless and vile devotion for xblock many times on these forums
always be suspicious of grown men who are affectionate towards cats - those men who imitate the speech of a young child to talk with the animals
that is you shellster
I think you have caused enough embarrassment for yourself by your picture alone
I will not converse with you any further piglet ... so I'm waiting for Google to explain to me why this is better than a Linux netbook running Chrome.
In your own time, Google. »»
 ok buddy for a c0ck knocker you're quite funny. maiale Exactly, I thought it was going to be a brand new operating system. Do we really need another linux distro? Google just want to take over our lives anyway chrome is a buggy mess thatv keeps on crashing and hanging up all the time I thought the MS bashing was out dated, scary people still do it.
I agree with shellster2, Google already control a lot of what we view on the web, if one of their services goes down, some personal pages don't even load. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with them controlling what I can actually use on my PC as well. But it all depends on what is special about it and what it can provide.
Might not be used as a primary os, but a virtual os might be alright to play in. Or perhaps for dual booting. Might be handy for those really annoying moments when you forgot to do something online and need to boot up quickly to log onto the web. dont mean to be rude but if google really want to challenge Ms then they need to produce an os that can do more than just allow users to email and browse the web. Google are evil, they are only interested in the advertising revenue they can gain from you and everything you look at, do etc....
Not for me. All companies are evil as they are all after our money..... There's nothing inherently wrong about being in business to make money, unless you go about it in an unscrupulous way.
Am I right in assuming then, that none of you guys work to get paid? You're all volunteer workers in the local kitten sanctuary or something?
Riiiiiiiiiight... There's nothing inherently wrong about being in business to make money, unless you go about it in an unscrupulous way.

Riiiiiiiiiight... I don't mind them being after money. MS just want my cash, Google want my info, which is fine when I use their service, however I would not want to use an OS by them that then sends what I do to them so they can sell it.
Also, drivers are a pain on Linux we forget how easy PC's are to configure using Windows.... Sorry about the double-comment. This site is running very slow for me  short but good article about this on the beeb http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8140594.stm After reading that link I for one would not touch the Chrome os. What happens when their servers go down which has been a issue quite lately. Normally google goes down then twitter does because every man and his dog is tweeting about it. That article makes this sound like the cloud has gone mad. I have a powerful machine, it doesn't do much 'heavy lifting' as I don't hammer it with too many applications at once. Having everything on the web is a dangerous game in my eyes, as said before if one of the services goes down, you are stuck. Connection speeds in this country aren't the best and I bet everyone has experienced a random disconnect for no apparent reason. That's not the best situation to run personal (and especially corporate) applications.
I'm sure they won't stop you installing the likes of Open Office on the OS, but if it requires an active connection, I can't see many people picking it up, even if it is free (pure speculation there). no x64 support? And it's linux? Poo. Not a major contender to M$ then, shame. |
