On the one hand, a lot of people are sick of them constantly re-releasing their games, and would like to see something new.
On the other hand, most of their new, lowest-common-denominator-pleasing games suck compared to their old titles.
They need to find the middle ground, which would be re-releasing updated versions of their classics with tarted up visuals and decent online support, a-la the new/old Monkey Island HD. **** that, Tales of Monkey Island lands in a matter of hours. I have my pre-order in! :D
Plus The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition hits Xbox LIVE real soon!
WOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo in my top 5 best pc games ever (grim fandango) it really needs a remake !!!! in true 3d XBLA monkey island is next wednesday...not sure how much though
i am currently on 'year two' of Grim Fandango on the PC,been meaning to play it for years now...i would still buy it if it came to XBLA Does any one know if steam works for macs It's certainly plausible, but I'd seriously go for electricity as the overheads are a great deal cheaper. ;)
BSW new x-wing or tie fighter... or x-wing vs tie fighter with mission builder would be awesome in full dx10 laser and proton torpedoie goodness  Tricky thing to balance for poor Lucasarts.

Um, I don't know which company you're thinking of, but LucasArts have been criticised often for NOT re-releasing their old games. It's almost impossible to find many of the games on this list, and getting them all to work on modern systems makes them worth it too. They already work on modern systems, have you never heard of ScummVM? I don't want their old games again, I've already got them, I want lucasarts to at least try to be as good as they used to be. This news disappoints me. Are you sure that's what you want? All the people/teams that made those games great are long gone from Lucasarts, meaning that these revered titles will be dragged back from the dead in some awful fashion, more "Monkey's Paw" than "Monkey Island"...
I think Lucas arts is best remembered for what it once was, rather than expecting them to ever return to form. Leave that to the other companies giving it a go, like Double Fine and Telltale...
(Although I'm more than willing to listen to any plans, in theory, for Outlaws 2...) Maybe it's a regional thing. Quite a lot of Lucasarts' old catalogue was re-released for the third or fourth time in around 2006 in the snazzy DVD cases with the purple spines, and can still be found in a few stores around my way, and between ScummVM and the new version of DosBox they run like a dream. Install XP or Vista onto your Mac and Steam'll work fine. |
