Epic Games Korea opens doors

To provide "direct Unreal Engine 3 licensing and technical support"
Epic Games is today celebrating the launch of its Korean subsidiary in Seoul. Don't expect any Gears RTS games to spawn from the outfit though; Epic says its dedicated to "support resources to game developers in Korea".

Epic Games Korea is headed up by former Xbox and Sony Computer Entertainment man, Ray Park, who acts as territory manager at the company.

"We deeply value our customers, and we are committed to providing Korean game developers with outstanding technology and tools," said Park. "The opening of Epic Games Korea signifies Epic's desire to collaborate more closely with the Korean game development community, as we view our licensees' successes as our own."

Epic Games' Jay Wilbur, VP of business development, said: "Epic has been providing Unreal Engine technology to the Korean market for over five years, with the simple goal of helping our customers make better games.

"We are now expanding our commitment to the Korean game industry by opening a local subsidiary, hosting a third of our global licensing resources, to serve as a hub for Unreal Engine access, knowledge and support in the Korean marketplace."

I hate Unreal Engine 3. Backgrounds are blurry, it hates consoles, is awful for JRPGs (The Last Remnant, please don't use it again, Square) and it has THE WORST TEXTURE POP-IN EVER (play Unreal 3 or The Last Remnant). Please lay it to rest and start again.

well i don't agree with you .. i like unreal engine works great with games like bioshock , gears even ut3 .. just get a good pc !

Well, I played UT3 on my PS3 so it might be different on PC. Maybe the only people who should use it are the people that know HOW to use it (I'm looking East to Mr Wada).

Yeah I think you're right...the UE engine is a great piece of tech. in the right hands, so any poor releases are more down to poor or lazy devs rather than the engine itself.

well i don't really know how these games performs on the ps3 or xbox .. but on pc it's pretty damn good .. Batman Arkham asylum is based on the UT Engine by the way ;) looking ****ing great so far ! :D
