Batman: Playable Joker exclusive to PS3

Available as free download via PSN
Joker will be a playable character exclusively in the PS3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Eidos has revealed.

The makeup-wearing mentalist will be made available as a free download via PSN at launch, and will be playable in a series of Challenge maps, details the publisher.

No further details were revealed, and we were given a "no comment" when we asked if the 360 would get an exclusive treat of it's own.

The game's out in June so you've not long to wait.

Beyond a joke now this exclusive DLC. I wish we could all just have the same sodding game.

woo-hoo. if i hadn't already preordered it on PS3 this would have defo swung it for me.

I don't mind exclusive DLC when it's just little stuff like this.

But even as an xbox owner I think it's really shit that PS3 folks are deprived of TLAD, Fallout 3 content etc. Perhaps it's about time the balance was redressed (or, just give everyone the same damn content).

Oh yeah, I bet you weren't saying that when GTA got 360 content and PS3 didn't. I agree with you, but I think we can expect more comments coming like this, that suddenly turn on exclusive content because its PS3. Or idiots will turn up and start spouting that the PS3 is shit.

It is the time PS3 had exclusive DLC, Mr Mark, M$ has been very greedy with exclusive DLC!
Posted by dangermou5e
This kind of stuff doesn't bother me at all i'll still get it on the 360 purely because i prefer achievements to the trophy system but at the end of the day exclusive dlc is just another form of willy waving

DLC on XBLA for 200 MSP or something in a couple of months...

Anyway, a reskinned player model in a specific game mode using an existing character from the game is hardly a system seller on a par with GTA:TLAD!

(Even if it *is* the Joker)

Maybe so, but it has got to stop sometime. In a console war it should be the exclusive games that do the talking, and not DLC. We all pay the same money for multiformat titles, so we should all get the same game.

Things is, as mentioned many times before, it will be a timed exclusive, like Lost and Damned and so on.

Chill everyone, its just a question of time.

guess i'll be getting the ps3 version then. Then again those mirrors edge map packs were meant to be ps3 exclusive as was darth vader. hmmm. Probably endo up on both eventually.

Who really cares? I will buy a Batman game to play as Batman, Joker is a good antagonist but Batman is well, you know, the Dark Knight.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

Lucky PS3 owners, eh? Or will the 360 get Bane as an exclusive playable character, and both will get the other a few weeks later via download (ala Soul Calibur).

I'm not siding with any particular camp on this, as the argument always ends up as petty and childish squabbling, but DLC only really raises an eyebrow with me if it's whole new gameplay levels/areas.

Challenge rooms, time trial maps, special weapons, vehicles, multiplayer maps and skins just don't really do it for me.

Especially if they have to be paid for with points or by pre-ordering at full price (or more if it's the special edition).

The Joker is quite a coup, even if this DLC crap is getting a bit petty and out of hand. Not being able to terrorise people with him in the main game isn't on, though.

And as much as I'd love to play as The Joker, if he's just a skin using Batmans moves it would be pretty crap. He's gotta be poking people in the eyes and kicking them in the nuts for it to truly be the Joker.

Give me Alfred on the 360 and I'll be alright. Either him, or the Martian Manhunter. Now that would be cool.

When the DLC is free, it's really no different than what happened with certain previous gen multiplatform titles (except for the obvious fact that the exclusive content is available via the internet, rather than stored on the game disc).

For example, Soul Calibur 2 had one exclusive character each for its GameCube, PS2, and XBox releases: Link, Heihachi Mishima (from Tekken), and Spawn respectively.

You can go even further back: Doom 1 and Doom 2 both had levels that weren't available on all platforms (and do go thinking the PC versions are the "definitive" versions with all levels, because there are at least five levels which aren't in the PC versions); even the recent-ish XBOX 360 rerelease of Doom had two exclusive levels!

Even further back still, the Apple Mac version of Wolfenstein 3D had exclusive content, in the form of nicer looking, higher res sprites.

Come to think of it, there are countless games that are very different in their ZX Spectrum incarnations than they are their Commodore 64 or Amstrad versions, due to the different technical abilities of those machines.

Weh Hey!!
Can't wait for this game now
especially as the PS3 Owners get to be the King of bad Guys the Joker COME ON PS3!!
Posted by ensabahnur
you might want to wipe that off, it'll stain

Cretin. Look at his F***ing signature. Notice the PSN ID too?

Can't deal with the fact that some people are actually relatively impartial and just don't like the idea of console bias concerning DLC.
Posted by lonewolf2002
Maybe the 360 will get Harley Quinn, thats if they get anything.
Posted by Black Mantis
Either way I don't think many will be to bothered. As mentioned above, it's more about dlc that extends the story that people are interested in.
Posted by shadowsblaze
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe 360 owners will get Nightwing? Considering what's happening in the Batman comics at the moment, it seems plausible.

P.S. For those interested, Game are taking pre-orders for the PS3 Collector's Edition for £44.99. It's probably an error mind you so order it while it's availble at that price.

I agree it's just that follwing the Soul Caliber exclusive characters thing something may happen for the 360 as well. Either way I'm covered should the game be worth getting in the first place of course.
