Delegates await their turn to speak at a microphone on the convention floor. LCMS President Jerry Kieschnick welcomes to the convention center stage Jan Wendorf, the newly elected president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Wendorf addressed convention delegates on Tuesday morning.
Bob Roegner, executive director of LCMS World Mission, shows convention delegates a “Bible stick,” which contains an MP3 player containing a “dramatized” New Testament. The devices will be given to the 25,000 attendees expected at the LCMS National Youth Gathering in Orlando, Fla., July 29-Aug. 1. LCMS President Jerry Kieschnick, temporarily sidelined from his duties as convention chair, was amused by the remedies left at the podium for his lack of voice.
