Square Enix sued over hidden FFXI fees

Taken to court for "fraudulent concealment" of fees in MMO title
Square Enix is being taken to court for "deceptive advertising, unfair practices and fraudulent concealment" in regards, mainly, to fees in MMO title Final Fantasy XI.

The court filing states that Square apparently deceived around 100,000 players of its online game, being less-than-upfront over the terms of monthly fees, penalties for late payments, interest charges and termination of accounts for late payments.

Sounds like someone didn't pay up and got their rear booted a little too hard by Square.

The suit is seeking damages of more than $5 million. We've contacted Square for a response, but don't count on anything other than a "no comment".

See the full court filing here.

What do people expect if they don't pay their fees? As long as they aren't excessive there's nothing wrong about it.
Not to mention I seem to remember you have to agree to the T&C's every single time you log on.

Theres something wrong with it if the person was never told. Otherwise companies can just make it up as they go along.

It doen't seem like Squeenix would be dumb enough to hide fees fully. Surely it was in the EULA or something? Meh, $5000000 to Square is nothing anyway, they probably make that in a day.
