EA combines BioWare and Mythic

New RPG/MMO studio rises from the ashes
EA has combined the operations of BioWare and Mythic to form a new RPG/MMO studio group.

"This newly formed team will be led by Ray Muzyka, co-founder and general manager of BioWare," the company said in a statement. "With this change, Ray becomes group general manager of the new RPG/MMO studio group. BioWare's other co-founder, Greg Zeschuk will become group creative officer. BioWare's studios remain unchanged and continue to report to Ray."

This could be good stuff. Both companies being specialists in RPG and MMO which makes the most sense. Let us be fair as well Warhammer Online could benefit from this merger the most.

Mythic will definitely benefit from it more than Bioware will. It's not like Mythic have ever done anything truly groundbreaking in any of their games, so anything they can learn from Bioware will be great for them.

As long as it doesn't end up with Bioware releasing endless grindfest games I don't mind this one at all :)

considering its bioware at the helm of this new group i doubt it. This has The Old Republic written all over it though. who better to help finiah off and run biowares new MMO than guys that specialise in them

Agreed, Monkey.

On a personal note I could care less; good for them and I hope they strike a successful and harmonious work relationship. Personally I have zero interest in subscription-based MMOs and thus the KoTOR MMO will not be on my shopping list.

I was wondering how long it would take before EA started to swallow up Bioware and it looks like this could be the start.
It does seem like they have done this just to make a new ToR managment team right now though, hopefully nothing bad will follow.
