PSP Go: "Opportunity for non-gaming" apps

Reduced dev costs opens up portable to alternative applications, says Sony
The reduced cost of PSP development opens the platform up to developers to create non-gaming applications, says SCEA PR manager Al De Leon.

Showing off the new PSP Go, Leon stated that the "significant reduction in the (cost of) development tools for the PSP" was to "enable all sorts of developers to develop content for the PSP".

"It will mostly be games, but there's certainly an opportunity to look at some non-gaming applications," he told CNET. Like an app that lets you add booby-wobble (we just made that up) to photos of top-heavy ladies, we guess (yes, we're iPhone App Store users).

Recent rumours suggest Sony plans to reveal an updated PS Store at Gamescon in August, with a new section for PSP Apps.

If they had made this capable of making phone calls and text messages i might have bought one.

As long as they don't forget about the core gamers, I was looking forward to this being console style DLC gaming on the go, and they keep it "leaner" than Apples offering.
@ flash501 the new PSP doesn't feature motion sensor so thats not likely.
