NOTE: This page records information about people leaving
Herefordshire to settle in Colonial and British North America. My intention is
to illustrate the very wide range of "emigration experience";
hopefully also to spur the reader to look for similar information
regarding his or her own immigrant ancestor. It is not intended as an
advertising medium for research interests, although of course inclusion in
the list may result in further information being forthcoming as a consequence.
The following entries have been contributed by the
REDMOND (& variants) DNA Project (Nicole)
Please note that Nicole has no known relationship with any of these
individuals, and is simply wishing to share the information with a wider audience.

PIXLEY, William - birth in Herefordshire in mid 1600's, place unknown. He
died 9 Oct 1689 in Westfield, Massachusetts. Married Sarah LAWRENCE
24 Nov 1663 and they had 7 children. Surname variants PICHESLIE to PIXLEY.
Hazel's PIXLEY heritage may be traced from Tugar Lord of Picheslie, born 965 to 1016
in Radelowe (district), Herefordshire, and who died in Wales before the Conquest, to
William above who was the last of the line to live in Herefordshire. Other PICHESLIEs
were Lords and Knights, many of whom were killed in battle, and. Hazel suggests
William might have left to escape a similar fate! He was nevertheless in military
service, and was to go to Nova Scotia to help exile the French people from there. He
may have deserted however, because he became a land owner on a small scale, and
stayed in the US. Hazel's father's mother was Ida Frances PITTSLEY (PIXLEY).
