Empire: Total War update incoming

14 new units added "for more diversity"
Sega has passed over details for update 1.3 that'll make the already critically acclaimed Empire: Total War, even more critically acclaimed.

The patch will drop on Monday June 22 and include "the implementation of multi-threading, which will significantly benefit players that use multi-core processors. In addition to this, the update greatly improves performance on single core machines."

Creative Assembly has also added 14 new units to the game that will "replace 'generic' equivalents to give each faction a distinct presence on the battlefield."

Yay,

Good to see their supporting fairly quickly after release. Not sure what benefit the multi threading support will bring.

It was too buggy and too bland to hold my attention. Good game, but could have been so much better. Though I am looking forward to the next game on this engine, when it's a little more refined, they have the MP campaigns in place, and its back to sword and shield stuff. Gunpowder and bullets just don't have the same feel when you have more of them, but the more swords, shields and arrows you have, the better the battle :D

Shame they don't care about gamers with 8000 series Nvidia cards who cannot play Shogun TW or the first MTW - especially when the problem arose a year ago!!!!

Also, when you consider the above games are still available on the "Era's" compilation, and that was given away by PC Zone late last year as a subscription extra, it's surprising there has been no editorial comment.

So mark my words, Empire TW may be being fixed at the moment, but if anything comes to light in a year or so, don't expect any help from SEGA or CA, as they now have a track record to prove they only care about the game while it is selling and new.

Well Shogun was released in 2000 and Medieval in 2002 so I don't see how your logic works there.

I don't think I'll still be playing Empire in 7-9 years time.
