Madballs XBLA - first screens

Freaky-looking rubber balls get Avatar-based game
Canadian dev Playbrains has unveiled an Xbox Live Arcade arena-based 3D shooter themed around the 80s (US) Madballs craze. And it's an Avatar game, so you'll be able to slap your own ugly mug into the game. Here are the first shots and info.

The ugly rubber Madballs launched in 1986 and were the "gross-out phenomenon of the decade" says the official blurb. They ring a bell but we were more into Garbage Pail Kids.

'Madballs in...Babo:Invasion' (to give it its full title) is being pitched as an arena-based 3D shooter where "players are able to design their own combat maps almost instantaneously by placing a combination of map tiles to create a never-before-seen map before gameplay starts. Truly, no two games are ever the same."

There's four-player online co-op, support for up to 16 players in multiplayer and the option to incorporate your Xbox Live Avatar into multiplayer games via an 'Avatar Attack' mode. Game's due out this summer. Sounds interesting. First shots below.
