Interesting when you look at the 360 side of things, 20 games 90 or above and 7 of them exclusives... wasnt impressed by the E3 video. massive generic meh Well thats what were assuming, could be right, could be wrong...
But the fact is people with a 360 will be able to play splinter cell, (regardless of whatever you think about it) and the next MGS.

Fact is some people actually like both splinter cell and MGS, and fact is you will need a 360 if you want to play both. From the video it seems to be a lot more action packed than previous SC games. Saying that, I have seen very little of it.
Not too sure about the text on the walls, etc, whilst you are playing. Seems a bit weird to me. I can understand that they want to keep the player immersed in the game, but having 'INFILTRATE MANSION' in big, bold letters pasted across a wall is a little off-putting for me. Is it ok if I look forward to the next Splinter Cell Game? I wouldnt want to get this one wrong :? . and some people like poking needles in their arms... whats your point?!

For the record I own a PS3 and 360, I have absolutley no allegience to one or the other, I love and hate things about both consoles.

The original was out on PS2 and so was the next two SC games so how was it an exclusive??? I'm sorry but Chaos Theory shits from a great height MGS3 if we're going to compare sequel to sequel. comeback when you do. the leap from the ps2 games to ps3 is substantial.
gone are the days of getting stuck head first in an air vent like a ****. the control over your character is one of the best things in it. As a now ex PS3 owner I don't know how PS3 only owners cope. They're loosing out on HUGE exclusives. They're loosing all there exclusives and things such as Live are MILES better than PSN.
Not only that but multi-format games always get more content or exclusives or support on 360 then PS3.

The latest splinter cell was made in 2007, Metal Gear solid was released in 2008. That fact alone has labelled your snarky little comment pointless, the fact that one year apart is a big deal within the games industry, especially when games are forever evolving, what was considered amazing in 2007, then to be overdone by titles the very same month or a year after its release.
The fact that Metal Gear Solid has a big fan base, and a big fanbase within Journalists yes, it will obviously push the meta up alot.

MGS probably is be the better game. I have put in way to many hours into MGS4 and the other games, so I would probably have to say SC conviction won't be as good as it, and maybe the new MGS won't be as good as MGS4, but they are just my opinions.
Truth is unlike SVD I can see past those sony tinted glasses he wears. I don't really care about the console, I care about what games I can play, so its great that I own a 360 and can play the new MGS and splinter cell. Considering how your using metacritic as a method of judging the quality of games, what does the above say for the difference between quality of games on PS3 compared to 360? if you look at metacritic, over around 80 professional reviews, the MGS games are averaging about 10 percent better scores.

sad you side with a game simply because its the only one you can play. i played the last splinter cell on my ps3 - it sucked balls. got stuck at a bit where you had to input numerical codes into a sort of rubix cube. done my head in, and given the fact i had not enjoyed the game up until that point anyway i gave up on it. try as i might to like it - stealth games are a favourite of mine. but this just just average. the control over your character was jerky and the immersion was poor. then again that only an opinion, like your is. HOLD TIGHT GAMEBOY 1 I sense a ban coming... im not bothered, i rarely even turn my PS3 on anymore( i did for the first time in 6 weeks 3 days ago to get the infamous demo, but i couldnt get it without a firmware update, after that failed to download 4 or 5 times in 2 hours i just switched it off ), but my PC is getting loads of gaming time. Um actually I want. MGS is one of my most beloved franchises ever and every entry in the series is a pure gem but I'm still getting Conviction. Sure, the Splinter Cell games never had the quality of MGS games, but it looks like it's gonna be good, so I'll be picking it up at some point.

For some reason, and i cant explain this, im getting less and less interested with this game and the last time smthg like tht happened to me it was with assassins creed and we know how tht turned out.
1 of the reasons i loved the other splinter cells was all tht tech you had, you felt like a true bad ass and everyone out there was just measly prey but now it seems instead of hunting you're like always sought after which changes the game drastically and i hope they dont screw it up. at the nerd who is so concerned about exclusives.

RUSE, Crackdown 2, (Potentially APB), Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Forza, Dead Rising 2? (idk about that one, dont care), Alan Wake, Star Ocean, Mass Effect 2 (considered exclusive upon launch),2 New rare project, Bioshock 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Cry On, Champions Online, Huxley, new mistwalker project, Ninety-Nine Nights 2, and a few others, but formula one is about to start, and really , cant be arsed with this topic anymore. Just out of curiosity, are those 9 games also on PC or are they really exclusive to X360?
Not trying to attack you here, but I always thought that calling anything 'exclusive' when it's also on PC is a BS. Would you like a muffin sweetie? SC: Double Agent was extremely poor in my eyes, Chaos Theory is the best SC by far and conviction has a huge mountain to climb to top that master piece. I find it curious that time and again you initially spout of your opinion as fact and then when you are called on it you back pedal by claiming it was only ever your opinion. Since you are clearly aware of that why do you seem dead set on crushing all views contrary to your own? I can relate to the feeling though; it's not an easy one to counter-act but I like to think it's possible to at least try to do so.
As for Metacritic I could care less since private reviews affect those scores. It's no more reliable than amazon's reviews. Both are good to get a brief glimpse at what others think but that's where the buck stops. Furthermore, having a majority agree with you doesn't automatically make it right. Classic example: Nazi Germany.
As for Splinter Cell and MGS I could care less; neither game holds particular appeal for me. Touche, sir. :wink: dont want to seem hostile here but why are you on this thread anyways? thats like me going onto a thread abt wii sports and saying i dont like wii sports.
and how can people possibly compare SC and MGS? they are 2 totally diff games with SC being the true stealth game while MGS is more of an action game with stealth elements. both are excellent when at the top of their game but totally different.

PCG regularly in their mags have a pc which costs under a 1000 pounds to build which runs games fine. That's easily answered: Because this is a gaming news forum and I enjoy taking a peek at various ongoing news stories. There you go again making all kinds of assumptions. I'm well aware of that, but really, asides from getting paid for it and the occassional journalism degree or two, what's the difference? When I can find lists of 20 odd reviewers ranging from the US to the UK, to Sweden and Poland and that these reviewers are essentially only expressing their personal opinion (hopefully from a more impartial and informed position - which lamentably isn't always the case,) it seems to become more a matter of semantics.
Perhaps you feel vindicated and comforted by complete strangers online dictating which games you should and shouldn't like, and why. There's a certain appealing comfort to it, I can see that, but I prefer to reflect upon, and evaluate, things for myself. Feel free to try it sometime. OK I went to metacritic myself and there are 3 exclusive games for PS3 (killzone2, LBP and MGS4) and 4 for X360 with rating 90 and higher (Halo 3, GeoW2, Forza 2 and Geometry Wars which is XBLA game if I'm correct, so not a full retail titles like the others), rest of those are on the PC so I didn't count them.
But what's the point of that argument anyway? They are both pretty much equal, especially when you consider the 1 year handicap of PS3. What a load of rubbish being spewed here. Mostly by SVD_G (Sony Venereal Disease ?)

like i said, just halo expansions, forza and crackdown which i forgot about. still pales in comparison to PS3 exclusives for the next year and a bit.

Also i hear u saying that mgs4 is the best, i'm affraid not everyone will agree with ur opinion, not everybody is a fan of the metal gear solid series, yes i own an xbox 360, but plan on saving up for a ps3, but will not be getting mgs because im not a fan of the series.
Also when i do get a ps3 my 360 will still be my main console just going to be getting afew games on the ps3.
So in other words grow up and stop bashing games on another console's it's very childish and that's not what board's are for, but that's what fanboy's are like " PS3 rules xbox suck's" not the case why do u think the 360 has sold so much, and don't use the excuse that the ps3 is so expensive that people can't afford both consoles. a poor mans mgs lol what a load of bollocks i would choose splinter cell over mgs any day its a proper stealth game not a run and gun like mgs. oh ive set the alarm in this area best run back out of it so it can reset what a load of crap. it has stupidly long movies. all the action sequences that you watch in the game wouldn't u rather play them than watch them? splinter cell takes a lot more skill and has better gameplay I have always found Splinter Cell to be the better "stealth action" game seeing as it does not contain `loooong & convoluted story line sequences & actually gives more gameplay.
And J1gsaw the list of PS3 exclusives you posted are just that because they are 1st party games or from devs that have a long history with sony like naughty dog etc it would be interesting to see if they were exclusive if other company's were publishing them. Some of the games you say are not exclusive are coming to PC but when your talking about Consoles then they are exclusive to 360 IE Alan Wake, & most likely Mass Effect 2 as MS invested heavily in the series not just the first game as they were aware from the start that bioware's plan was for a trilogy.
As for Forza being a poor GT I think that Forza is actually a better game than GT as since GT2 they have been pretty much the same game over again at least Forza adds new things & new modes not just more cars. Oh, I'm sick of it. When Ubisoft bought Tom Clancey they didn't even really think carefully enough that they got a bunch of rubbish to trash the brand, and this time when it really make something of TC it begin to put up airs. I don't really understand what Ubi was really doing. Is it actually making a game or air? Could this guy have possibly picked a worse example?
FF started off as a Nintendo exclusive, then switched to Sony with PC ports, then they started releasing the occasional Nintendo-exclusive spin-off (e.g. Crystal Chronicles), then they announced a joint PS3/360 release with various platform exclusive spin-offs, and now the next game (i.e. FF XIV)seems to be a Sony exclusive again.
And that's skipping over a lot of details, like ports made years later of the original Nintendo exclusives, etc. LOL!

I actually want games to be on both.... Well, that's funny. I have MGS4 on my PS3 and I've also pre-ordered Splinter Cell for my Xbox 360.
The fact is, though I enjoyed MGS4's gameplay, I've always enjoyed Splinter Cell more. Personally, I found the gameplay to be superior and it's not bogged down in one of the most long winded, ridiculously boring scripts in gaming history.
Ultimately, it does not matter whether game reviews are poitive or negative as long as you personally enjoy the game. Unfortunatley, the fact that you use Metacritic scores to validate your enjoyment of a game just goes to show how insecure you are in the choice of game you play. And the fact you constantly appear on XBox related news to complain about the console and it's games further proves how insecure you are and the need to validate the choice of console you have decided to back.
Maybe it's time you went outside, got a job, get a girlfriend, and stop spending so much time complaining on these forums. Or is your life really that lonely and pathetic? »

why do you insist on constantly trying to prove the ps3 to be better than xbox? Imo, thats the case but the xbox is still a good console. ( i think its just because when i was growing up my brother bought all the playstation consoles, so they were a big part of my childhood gaming)

Its not about adding restrictions the fact is that not many people can afford a rig to run some of these games on PC so therefore the consoles become the obvious choice & as far as consoles go then Alan Wake Mass Effect 2 are exclusive & PC gaming is not as popular as Console gaming unless of it has world of warcraft or sims in the title for the most part.
I think that this gen MS love or hate them have catered more for the gamers than the competition Nintendo have gone a different route & have had massive success & Sony have consistantly shot themselves in the foot.
Oh SVD saying that MGS Rising is not a real MGS game is a lame excuse for sour grapes it bears the name of the franchise it features characters from the series its set in the same universe as the other games so therefore it is like it or not another MGS game & slagging it off before anyone has played it is jumping the gun dont you think Meh, MGS is OK, but I prefer my Splinter Cell: a true stealth-gamers game.

I bought MGS4 on the PS3 and got bored with it after less than an hour.....oooh look a cut scene, oohhh some gameplay that lets me crawl under a truck.....and then oooohhhh another cutscene.....utter bollocks. I have no interest in splinter cell so will see what the reviews say...but I don't trust them these days...they seem to throw 90+ score at huge budgeted games....I wonder if a portion of the budget of these games goes on bribing reviewers. indeed, Halo 3?? LOLZZ!! what aload of tripe that game is I wonder if this is a problem with how western audiences perceive an eastern method of story telling...remember these are the people who have episodes of shows where people just stand and look pissed off with each other, the whole time saying nothing.
That said i loved every minute of mgs4.
Personally i had the same reaction to GTA4...that was utter ********, but what can you do huh? Im glad Splinter Cell isnt Metal Gear, as Metal Gear solid makes you fall asleep with its excessive cut scenes and socom chatter. At least with Splinter Cell you can just get stuck into the game and not worry about what the hell is going on! This still doesn't make sense. All the other SC games made it to PS2, and one of them, Double Agent, to the PS3. Increased profits will happen if it's released on all 3 platforms, don't they want to make more money?
