FFXIII 360 only two months old

360 work began after the PS3 demo launch in April
FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has admitted that work on the 360 version of the game didn't start until after the PS3 playable demo was released - in April.

"Up to the trial demo version that was released [in April] in Japan, [FFXIII] was PS3-only in terms of development," Kitase said.

"The Xbox 360 version is definitely following after the PS3 version, but [we] were finally able to come to a point in the PS3 development where some of the staff could take their hands off and start programming the 360 version," he went on to tell Giant Bomb.

Sounds like they need to pull their fingers out.

Jesus. CVG's closing comment on this article pretty much sums it up.

Pull their fingers out for a game that won't see release over here until Spring 2010? Plenty of time I think, seeing as the engine they're using is cross-platform.

agreed,Spring Ends June 21st(first day of summer)...so,that means this time next year,it still may not be out yet(although at the latest it would be this week next year)..so they have at the most a year to get it out for Spring 2010 like they say...and if the game is more or less finished on the PS3,and its just a case of getting onto the 360...i don't see what the worry is

shouldn't be too hard a job. Its generally easier to port things from the PS3 to 360 than the other way around.

I'll probably end up getting this on import for the ps3 though. If the PAL release of this is anything like 12 we won't see it overhere untill 2011.

Of course they had to do Xbox 360 version sometime this year.

It's only 2 months old, but they still managed to whip out a live demo for E3 two weeks ago? I'd say that's pretty good going!

Another couple of months and it should be teething.

I have my doubts about spring 2010. looks more like winter at this rate. Which is pretty bad considering the lengthy development time.

...I can see some sony fanboy looking at my post and making a paragraph long rant about it being the 360's fault

I can see it slipping from a 2010 release date, not because of console problems, just because it's Square-Enix and they don't seem to put as much effort into getting the non Japanese versions sorted quickly. I'm fairly certain the cutscene/dialogue heavy MGS4 got a worldwide release, why cant FF13?

I'd actually prefer a winter release as I'm less likely to go out then! :)

yeah same here i feel bad being stuck inside on a nice hot day. much prefer playing it when the rains pouring lol

You could always move over here to Ireland. :D

Except its not being ported from the PS3 is it... the engine the game's being developed on is compatible with both formats so they'll ship it over from the original source code like they did the PS3 version.

so i'm confused right, is it coming out after the PS3 version or at the same time?
And also 'effin when?!
i swear i've been waiting for this for aaaaages, just sitting by the phone waiting for a call off Yoshinori Kitase saying "We've finished it Dave." "K cheers." *click*
12 was years ago000ooo!!... 2 years ago...
also good article slash coverage Michael Jackson! <l:0)

i wonder what sales will look like if square pull the usual "PAL land waits 3 months for no reason".

everyone with a ps3 will buy the US version.

everyone with an xbox360.....won't (unless its region free).
Posted by WHERESMYMONKEY
should be even less of a problem then.

Its still A PS3 exclusive in Japan so that'll come out when its finiahed. The western release will be simultaneous for 360/ps3.
