MS and Sony are really going after that 'all in one box' mentality, good news for us Gamers. *edit* hm so it's only about music videos? eh I totally agree StonecoldMC. Competition between the Big Two can only be good for us! Exactly. Competition can only be a good thing for us. Liking the sound of this VidZone. Especially its price... FREE. :) This sounds good, especially because of the PS3's superior sound output. Its always baffled me why music vids on XBL cost money, I mean what sort of idiot would pay for a music video when they can just turn on MTV not interested in the mainstream shite this provides.
rather use beatport or something for music and get on the old torrent and get some interesting tv shows like louis theroux. class programs, louis seems like a harmless nerd, and is very laidback letting the interviewee dig their own grave. he even surprises hardend nazis.
9 films out of 10 are cheesy as **** these days. Free I am on it, nothing like things that are free. Heres hoping for some Beyonce Single Ladies :lol: *drools* Does anyone know if they have good music on this? You know, anything that isn't crap pop and most rap. Its good for PS3 users, though anyone with a V+ box has been doing it for a couple of years now advert free....interesting to see how often they update it though. this still isnt on the ps network as of 14:18 gmt I check it around 5. You really wanted to know that of course you did. Just downloaded VidZone. Very easy to use, and lots of videos for everyone.
Couple of problems however, Video's are not in widescreen and also poor picture for the "HD" generation Sony want us to live in.
Great potential and really great for free when Virgin Media want to charge me 20p a music video!
Not a MTV beater (YET) I don't find it easy to use at all! For one thing it takes about an hour to start up (bit over-dramatic but it takes a good while) so I may as well go on Youtube and search for the video I want. The menus are really unintuituive as well. The X button ads videos to a playlist rather than select the video which I'd expect it to do so I have to go into options to play it. And why does it use in-game XMB? I'd expect it to use the normal XMB you get while listening to music, watching videos or looking at pictures and you press the PS button. And the less said about the search feature the better. I've been waiting for this since it was announced and I'm really disappointed. so dissapointed you signed up just to express it.
MTV TMF whatever, they are all bolloks. this will be the same. what do you expect?! I can't believe how slow it is to load up. Then playing music is just as bad. Really hope sony fix this, whats the point in putting it on if ya gonna have to w8 for ages to play 1 video then some videos dont work.
Jesus music is sposed to make ya relaxed not stressed out lol.
Hopefully this is just early days, and think when its running properly it will be brilliant At least you got it working! Mine says due to high level of demand, I have to exit and retry later :( One last complaint. I haven't heard of half the people on the app. They have videos for Same Difference yet people everyone knows are no where to be seen, like Beyonce (maybe she is there but I couldn't find her in a search). I hope they get a few more music labels on board... and fix the menus... and controls... and the load times... etc. god, you searched for beyonce! are you a girl?! (maybe you are)
and i wish people would stop calling it an "app". its a glorified webpage.

what an age we live in! I really like the idea of vidzone, i've been on it for about a hour or so and think it has good potential. But it is so slow, and everytime i search for some music the whole thing crashes for between 30 seconds and 3-4 mins?
Good selection of music so far in my opinion, hope it gets a update soon! If you dont like it, can you please quit the app, so I can get on it! Whats the point in vidzone when no1 can get on it

The search fuction is the worst search I have ever seen. If i want poker face for example, it has to search one letter at a time and load hundereds of choices seriously wtf is that all about?
How retarded can the person that put the search fuction on there be? If I could meet him/her I would give them a big slap! Then t-bag them for there shit work
I know its free and chances are it will be fixed but when people can't see the simple things that will annoy people it really annoys me Anyone know when the movie store is arriving in UK? As soon as that launches, I'll kiss my xbox goodbye The movie store is something im very looking forward to, thats what i mostly used my 360 for when i had 1, but the content was cack. Have you been on the american store and checked out there videos available? I hope ours will be like that Same as that, you get what you (dont) pay for i suppose . I thought it is a great music video app. Ok it is slow, but that is because it is day one and we are all trying to use it at once, so a couple of days from now and it'll be fine.
Good selection of videos to suit everyone, so well done Sony you have come up trumps on this on as it destroys the 360 video download service. Mine says something about country settings and won't let me on. It said the high demand thing earlier, too. I have a sneaky feeling that it'll take us 3 weeks just to get on the service. All well and good having 3 weeks of content if no one can see it!!!

Sorry Sony, slowly losing faith you can deliver wiikii i have the excact same problem, its broken so i give up *facepalm* Its like most of you have never used any live service on its day of release before! Ofc its slow, many of you wont be able to log on today. But in three days time it'll be lightning quick (mine is working fine now tbh). Managed to get on it and I'm mostly happy with it.
It would be good if it supported keyboard searches and a popup if clicking on an advert by mistake (as it launches the store and then have to restart vid zone)

Sign into the PS store, click on latest and it should be either the large icon on the left of the screen or the first small icon to the right of the PSP games folder. SVD cant be more wrong(ONCE AGAIN). Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, The Who, Foo's, B.R.M.C and many many more. Gotta play it before you slay it SVD. So if I join PSN USA, can I download films from it? Its bloody brilliant, everything is very fast and the videos load up in a instant. This is by far faster than anything on the net.
The only downers are the following
1) Long time loading to get the app running
2) Remote is not compatible
3) Can't delete multiple tracks off now playing list.
4) The search function is abit awkward although its really fast.
My rating for it at the moment is 8/10...
But be warned the servers are liable to play up so your experience maybe different to mine. Like I said earlier it was pissing me off. But give it a few weeks and a update I think we will see it go from strength to strength.
Let me know what you lot think I wish people would stop bitching.
Its the first day of an excelent free service, Of course its overloaded.
It took me ten minutes to get in, but when I was in, I had no problems. All of the songs I could see were modern high profile tracks, also did a quick serch for some more obscure tracks and found them.
The interface is quite easy to use, but I can see why some people on here dont have the brain capacity to use it.
Audio quality is first class (5.1 channel) at a cost of video quality, but thats the better option and is due to the average broadband speed, so you cant blame Sony
DID I MENTION ITS FREE..... Stop moaning I'v managed to get on it now. And I must say, its pretty cool for a free ap 8) . Its not often im gobsmacked but this is brilliant! The videos load instantly and in great quality if like me you tend to watch music on you tube. Yes the tracks are limited. Around 10 for the most popular artists (eminem for example).
There is even a fair chunk of the top 40 on here for people that like it.
For the metal junkies and rockers there is also loads of offerings my best find so far being Coheed and Cambria. Its certainly not all mainstream stuff as someone who no doubt has not even seen this app was bitching about.
Sucks the remote does not work with it and its not easy to see what is on your playlist but im sure these will be fixed and lots more content will come im sure.
Overall this is fantastic and the best thing is its FREE!!!!
Thanks SONY, more toys like this please. Now it's pretty late every single video loads instantly. Yeah, I like it. Didn't think it would interest me in the slightest but has been a nice suprise to return home to after a troublesome day in London (tube strikes are a pain in the arse btw).
There's a promising range of music that can only improve in time. While I don't care about anything in pop there are many catorgories including classical, dance and alternate (hate that term). Anyone witha PS3 should check it out, however I've had trouble getting songs to load for the past hour or so. i just keep getting an error message sying it cant confirm which country im from.... great... Wow, my more colourful term got edited to 'bottom'. How quaint and inoffensive for all the children posting here at stupid-oclock in the morning. got on it eventually last night, is a good idea, hate the nagigation and search though. one major gripe is why the hell can't I use my SONY bluray remote for it??? it has all the buttons needed and would be a lot easier!! I think it's an awesome app, especially for free!
My PS3 just got better. I too had problems at around 6:00-ish, probably because every man and his dog was trying to get on there.
Fortunately, I tried again at around 10:30 and the service worked perfectly. Very fast, yet the menus needed (imo) a bit of tweaking to become a bit easier for those who don't use consoles too often.
I even found a bunch of Metallica videos! Had a bit of Enter Sandman before going to bed..... :lol: 'I left my wallet in El Segundo' by Tribe and 'Typical American' by The Goats.....awesome.
More classic hip-hop tunes like this please.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good! Fatal error was a bit over the top me thinks. Thought my HD Tv was gonna explode. Get rid of the rubbish black bars, I thought picture was meant to be HD. But it's None to shabby, just a few things to update. |
