E3: Ubisoft goes "360-degree content provider"

Being a developer and publisher is so last year...
Ubisoft hammered home the message at its E3 press conference that it's no longer just a games company.

"Ubisoft is going from a simple developer and publisher company to a full 360-degrees content provider," said CEO Yves Guillemot, according to Gamasutra.

Guillemot was talking about Ubisoft's expansion into the film special effects industry. The company is said to be developing "over 100 shots" for James Cameron movie Avater. "We are for the first time ever bridging our visual effects and game development expertise," he said.

Ubisoft also acquired the rights to make a game based on Steven Spielberg's upcoming Tintin movie, which is being produced by Peter Jackson.

Let's hope it doesn't start making gaming websites, eh?

I'm not surprised - Ubisoft trailers for their games are always absolutely brilliant!

I know a few people who work at Ubisoft and right now they are pretty happy with it all. So gogo Ubisoft, for now.
