Share this article: Digg.comFacebookGoogle BookmarksN4GGamerblipsdel.icio.usRedditSlashdot.orgStumbleUpon What a load of pish COD 4 is fun but should not be on the list, Football Mananger should not even be near the top 100 let alone be number 2 how can it be better then MGS, Zelda, Mario etc. This list cannot be taken seriously because its created by a very specific Radio 1 demographic. :x Also what about "Shadow of the Colossus"? Says more about radio 1 listeners than the games themselves. COD4 and Football manager. pfft. Good to see that the BBC has such a good grasp of gaming. Obviously the best place to showcase a very visual media is on the radio. Well done there.
/shakes head
Why don't they just get rid of some of the crap that fills BBC 3 and put on a proper gaming show? Different things for different people. For me something like MGS wouldn't figure whereas FM would.
Each to their own. Are you sure they didn't just hold a "Name the mainstream game" contest?
Football Manager. You'd have more fun browsing the Sky TV guide. its all down to that fat phuck chris moyles constantly bloating about COD4 on the xbox.
the amount of crud that comes out his fat mouth makes me want to ram a console down it just to shut him up. Is it not usually COD:WAW he goes on about, its usually Keifer Sutherlands "here come the dogs" bit he plays. and if so much crud comes out his mouth why bother listening to him? Fixed ;)
\Runs This list is compiled from a short list of 100 games that they picked themselves!
So realy this is a top 10 of a list of 100 games that some "experts" at radio 1 picked who probably crated that list from "the bigginers guide to video games"!
& it was all so a load of DJ's in there mid thirties can appear to be cooler than they actually are ... if being a gamer makes you cool?!
The thing that amuzed me most was that the biggest (geniune)fan of COD & computer gaming in general, Chris Moyles, was on holiday on the Monday so he didnt get to partake in the competition!
Brilliant planning Radio 1! But hey ... dont we think they are all so cool now!?!?
 Dont listen to Moyles if you dont like it. I dont like Friends for example so i dont watch it. I dont feel the need to spam foums about it tho.
I dont think this list can be regarded as a difinitive list of the best games ever. Its just been voted by radio listeners. I bet if they did it in a years time the results would be totally different.
Maybe its the top 50 casual gamers list! Wow, that's crazy, Football Manager... really?? :?
Nice to see FFVII so high but I don't know whether to be surprised. FF is quite niche in the UK but is always high on the lists. COD4 deserves all the recognition in the world (expecially after treyarch took a shit on the name shortly after), I for one applaud radio 1 for this. Chris moyles kept going on about them both to be honest, not just world at shitty war. We need to keep pushing and supporting infinity ward as a community and burn off the leech which seems to have latched onto them. theyre doing very very well indeed and I cannot wait for the next modern warfare. I would have FM2009 as Number 1.I play it at least 3 hours every day
No other game can manage that with me. i don't listen to moyles, i listen to wogan on the way to work. moyles ****s me off so much i quite listening to radio 1 and have taken it upon myself to dispose of him once and for all from the breakfast show.
i reckon Nyhal and Greg James should have a show together in the mornings. What? No version of Counter-Strike? At all? What? What! COD 4. Yes it is a good game, but above mgs, Loz: OoT and ff 7? What a pile of rubbish. Thank god i didn't stay up to find out who it was. Well I voted for Deus Ex. Everyone else is wrong. :P I totally agree with everyone's comments. The competiton was completely flawed. Or at least it's title was as previously mentioned. The list needed to be open to every game ever made. While we needn't have cared below the bottom 100, it would have been far more interesting to see how the votes would have come out.
And has been pointed out, to do real justice to what is now a massive industry, enjoyed by so many millions it's worth a TV show at least. With clips from the games, industry insiders, maybe a couple of gaming celebrities, with a few professional competitors we could have had a very interesting programme. Surely it's only a matter of time before someone realises that an unbiased and open list of people most favourite games has an audience for TV! Because it's one of the most addictive and absorbing games ever? Not everyone's cup of tea but then there are some people who sneer at the pointless, mawkish, unending cut-scenes in MGS. Imagine that! :) How the hell did a database make it to number 2?! Any best of games list that doesn't have Deus Ex in the top 5 is completly invavild as far as I'm concerned.
Someone should also point out to them that there were games over 10 years ago aswell. FOOTBALL MANAGER?! FIFA?! Ok, good games for their type but, no WAY these should be anywhere near the top 100! BioShock isn't even on this list! Shadow of the Colossus, anyone?! The Radio 1 "games expert" even mispronounced Ocarina Of Time. Clearly reading from external sources.
Poor. The list is for radio 1 listeners favorite game, not 'best game ever'. Like is was said look at the demographic were talking about.
You guys need to chill out, why get angry because a load of people you dont know and who's opinion you dont respect said they like a game more than you do. Where on earth was RE4, Ico, Shadow of Colossus, Uncharted, Little Big Planet! QFT.
Well said that man, someone here with some sense and who actually read the article properly.
There is a couple of my old and current favs on that list. Oh and boo hiss to all the FM haters.... I listened fairly frequently over the weekend and it was pretty decent. They didn't really show many games apart from Mario Kart Wii and Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Not much changed so it was ok. :) I love these comments, everyone takes these lists so seriously!
First people were saying, "You can't compare these games! It'd be like comparing Bambi to Citizen Kane!" Now, it's "COD4 is a good game, but it shouldn't be number one"
I found it incredibly interesting really to see what this demographic thought of gaming and was thoroughly surprised. The DJ's who were giving the line up were hilarious, every time they read out the details of the game (there was no doubt they were reading off a sheet) they said every time, "Well, this is a great game, truly brilliant, amazing game"
Except for Pokémon, I got the feeling they didn't really care too much for Pokémon when they said, "It sold because the phenomenon was so big" while fluffing their lines. :D
Personally, I think this weekend was a great idea. Possibly not that great having them play Muse's Time is Running out while playing Guitar Hero as... it just sounded like they were playing a record... Like a radio station... Which was hilarious.
Also, if this thing gets a good reception, the BBC might commission a gaming show which would be fantastic. Especially since Playr has vanished off the face of the earth. I loved Playr. It would have been fantastic now with E3 round the corner. I did as well, couldn't agree more 8) Civilization? Anyone?
